Contest ends January 15, 2015. That's when I'll decide. Just in time for HO KOGAN! Man in all honesty, its your money, bro. Its really not my place to say what you should do with your figures because your opinion may differ from mine. Thanks Bubbles. I just wanted to get a feel of what other people do and hopefully that will calm some of the Maniac $hit that I do about collecting. Then I see forum.wrestlingfigs.com/thread/308278/moc-legends-flashbacks-collection-photos and think, I'm on my way haha. That link is a very compelling argument.

I thought those were pics taken inside of a toy store at first. If it were me, however, I would open those greasy c***suckers in a heartbeat.

It depends on how many figures you plan on buying and if you want to display or play/stop motion. In my opinion figures look better displayed moc on a wall but it can be a problem because they take up quite a bit of space.

I mean I don't pose or play with mine but I collect loose solely to save space and be able to easily move or change my display but yeah that huge complete legends collection is jaw dropping

Yes that look nice seeing them all MOC, but what I also see there is just figures set up on a kitchen table for the pics. Are the displayed? If so why not show them displayed? So that makes me think they are stored away and where is the fun in that? The reason I started collecting the CS was because of the memories I had of watching wrestling with my father before he passed away. I look at Snuka and remember actually getting upset (near tears) one Saturday morning when he was attacked by Ray Stevens. Yes, they actually got me on that one. And I think back to watching the MSG Network and both being in awe when he flew of the cage onto Muraco. Bushwackers - never liked them but as soon as I saw the (especially Mattel's) right away in the aisle I thought of my father always trying to embarrass me when my friends came over by marthing around the house like them. Throwing me into a headlock and licking my head. It put a smile on my face and had to buy them. Superstar Billy Graham and Backlund both bring back memories of my father laughing hysterically as Superstar tore the WWWF title to pieces with his bare hands while Backlind cried..." Why...Why" Those type memories come back everytime I look at the figures on my shelves. I just don't see that happening if my collection was MoC/MIB. Especially if I didn't display them. But at the end of the day you need to do what is best for you.

I mainly collect MOC but as my collections grows going loose is something Im going to have to really consider.
Collecting just MOC will drive you mad when you order online and the box is even just a tiny bit damaged. Its out of our hands what happens between ordering and receiving the figure so Im starting not to be that bothered about condition of box/card.
The packaging looks sweet and will be a wrench to take them out but once I finally find that sweet-ass display case/unit then Im going all Brock Lesnar on the packaging.

This has been a real interesting thread, been great reading all the replies of how different people collect. It's something I've had a lot of trouble deciding on too and even still to this day. I remember my first elite being series 2 Randy Orton when it came out and I had to open it and check out the amazing detail especially on the tattoos, so I started off as loose. I then got to series 5 and decided I quite liked them in the box so sold all what I had and went MOC. By elite 10 I was starting to run out of room so I ended up getting a display cabinet and opening them all up. In doing so I had a lot of figures with extremely loose/ warped joints and there was the staining issue too but other than that it was pretty good fun! Once again I got fed up with opening them and this was only by series 12. I remember looking at the new white packaging and loving how it looked so I once again sold everything off and started with series 12 completely MOC. I managed to acquire pretty much every elite MOC including exclusives, legends and even a MOC of a figure I can't mention on here. I was all up to date leading up to series 20 but once again didn't have much room to display, I was living with my Nan at the time and soon due to move into my own apartment. I knew the time for moving out was getting closer and I needed cash pretty bad so I ended up selling everything (apart from the special MOC figure) in order to have the money to decorate and buy furniture. Selling everything helped me out big time as I have now moved and the place is looking nice. I have since attempted to start the collection again and have always loved the look of carded figures but I'm thinking it would be a lot easier to catch up being a loose collector. Ultimately though I know I would end up regretting that decision plus with the one MOC I currently have I know everything will look better staying the same as that. Problem is how expensive the older figures are now but will be fun in a way tracking them down. I also used to love getting them signed but I'm not too big on that idea anymore, I prefer them to stay completely mint without any alterations.

I think space is the biggest issue. followed by price. Then the display and enjoy aspect.
I liked MOC at first, but was running out of room, and liked putting titles and shirts on.
Also most loose figures should be cheaper than a sealed one. I say a mix of more loose than sealed is the way to go with favorites/exclusives/autographs for sealed.

Through the years, I've done both. And each have a certain amount of satisfaction. But I get a "high" from loose collecting that MOC collecting can not touch.

I'm a MOC collector... always have been, always will be. I've been collecting various figures and toys for over 20 years now, all kept MOC/MIB - I have no intention of ever selling them, but just love the look of everything still "as new" in their lovely packaging... especially the older/harder to get items/figures. As I don't play with the figures (nothing wrong with those that do!) or display them loose (...never felt the urge to display them), to me, it would be pretty silly/pointless opening them. I keep most in boxes/storage, safe and sound. At the end of the day, it's completely up to the individual as to how they want to collect - BUT please don't think that just because a person collects MOC they can't possibly get as much enjoyment from the figures (...I actually think it would depress me, having to open my figures, lol). And just look at this guy's figures: forum.wrestlingfigs.com/thread/308278/moc-legends-flashbacks-collection-photosTo me, they look AMAZING all kept MOC like that - and SO much better than they would loose. Again, it's down to personal preference.

MOC for exclusives & "special" figures Loose for everything else This is making the most sense to me. I think I'll keep MOC my Matty, Ringside Exclusive, Legends, DM, Superstar Entrances, /1000 etc. I'll make everything else loose and pick up loose versions (or duplicates) of the other stuff. I'd love to have both a MOC & loose collection of the Legends line. I think that will give me the satisfaction I need from both sides of the field. Thanks everyone for their input, its been a great read thus far.

I had 50 plus Mattel figures MOC since I re - started collecting. The room they were taking up was getting ridiculous.
I mentioned to my girlfriend about selling them potentially someday. She said you'll want to sell them.
She was right. So we opened all of them. Glad I did. Except for a few figures here and there, loose collecting makes most sense.

MOC takes up far too much room and collections that display and are posed always look better to me. I finally found an e29 Rowan today, and let me tell you my elite Bray looks far better sitting in his built rocking chair than either figure looks displayed in the box. But if you're up to 125 figs all in box, then it sounds like you've made your choice already. I always say free your toys from their plastic prisons, but you've gotta live your life..... Real men open their toys and don't worry about resale or justification of their hobby. Booyaka!!!! Dead on.

All my figures are loose. I have a couple that I really loved and bought a second one to keep in the box. But they are few and far between. Bret Hart and HBK Wrestlemania and a Cactus Jack.

Most my collection is MOC, I do have about 30 loose ones. The ones I have loose are because I got some great deals on some that way and some were too expensive to buy MOC so I had to settle for loose. It's quite a pain sometimes to find ones with good boxes and good paint jobs and I also worry about stains or loose limbs that I will never know about.

Thanks to @barrettbarrage, PJ, and Chip for helping me see the light and come to an acceptable "life style" as a collector. I've updated the first post with photos of my "updated" collection.

It looks great, once you find some space you can really play with some display options. And look on the bright side if you get that Rosa Mendes figure, it's both moc and loose...
