I saw the new Daniel Bryan in person for the first time today. Mattel's figures tend to look better in person than in photos for one reason or the other, but unfortunately that is not the case here.
The painted skin tone is way too jarring. It looks like a bootleg. From what we saw at SDCC, it looks like future Bryan figures will be made the same way. I understand saving money for other paint deco, but if it ruins the figure, it's not worth it!

I don't see how casting a part in skin tone makes any difference to the paint deco. In fact, wouldn't painting the face cost more then doing what they normally do and cast the head in skin tone?

I wonder if painting the hair and beard is more costly, but there have been figures with Daniel's look before.

My money is on it's cheaper to cast a head in black than skin tone. And they probably found a really cheap way to paint the face on.
It's horrid though! AMAZING scans absolutely ruined

Anytime skin tone is painted on as opposed to it being cast that way, it looks bad. Every single time.

So I'm not the only one that thought the B42 Bryan scan looks off?
I don't see it as much with the BoPPV Bryan as much as B42, but still, it doesn't look as good as the other way around.

Mattel used to say they'd never paint skintone, what happened I haven't collected wrestling figures in a long ass time but I remember it being my biggest problem with certain figures from JAKKS. I mean, Jesus, RA RVD's thighs would look like crap because of it.

It's currently the worst thing Mattel is doing at the moment. Daniel's great new scans are ruined by this process. Please stop Mattel.

I feel every figure should be cast in skintone. This is what ruined the Honky Tonk Man & Ted Dibiase LJN along with others & many Hasbros who would turn Black, Blue or Red over time from having matches with them.
