There have been quality control problems since day one -- first batch of Mattels I got, Elite 1 Edge's waist didn't move. Hot water, hairdryer, forcing it... Nothing worked. WrestleMania Heritage 1 Edge's boot designs were smudged on a LOT of the figures. My Elite 4 Finlay had two legs that wouldn't turn, hot water did work for one, but not the other.
Lately, it has been getting worse. Smudges and paint botches make it very hard to feel comfortable ordering online. I've had three figures with the wrong arms and legs. And almost every basic I open has warped feet/legs or loose arms or a spinny waist, sometimes all three.
I suspect Mattel has cut quality control spending to keep costs low. I wish they'd fix it. I'd rather pay £1 more for a figure and feel comfortable that it's put together properly.

Recently I bought the RSC Exclusive ECW Punk and not only were there black marks on his back, but the belt had the black smudged on it where others didn't. Kind of frustrating being an online exclusive.

this ing stupid ass thread again.... Nobody forced you to click on it. This is a legitimate issue that consumers have a right to be concerned about.

this ing stupid ass thread again.... Agreed...If you dont like it, dont buy it. There's gonna be errors in anything that's mass produced. If you feel like Mattel isnt doing a good job then go buy JAKKS figures off Ebay. Im sure you'll love those things.

I think Mattel has gotten better with the loose joints. Maybe that's just me.

Jakks have the exact same problems as Mattel, but that has absolutely nothing to do with the discussion at hand.

Just seemed to me to be a silly thing to say since the thread is made for complaining. It's cool. I have no problem with this thread. I've bought my share of Toy Biz Marvel Legends and Sota Street Fighters toys to know what it's like to deal with companies with bad quality control.

I'm fine with everything. Certain figures I'll see with more smudges than others, but it hasn't bothered me too much. As long as exclusives come out close to perfect then I'm fine. The mass produced retail figures though I understand that not every one will be perfect, and they ARE toys so playing is their first intended purpose, so since I just display I know that once in awhile I'll have to track down one without a messed up paintjob.

I think Mattel has gotten better with the loose joints. Maybe that's just me. It's probably just a luck of the draw thing. Most of the time, my main issue was with figures that had really stiff shoulder joints when they were first opened... But based on all the warped/loose figures I've bought this year, I'd be overjoyed if the biggest problem was the shoulder being stiff.

Found Ryback and Punk today but didn't buy because Punks face was smeared and Rybacks torso had a smear and was missing paint. Extremely annoyed.
I see way too many bad paint jobs and I am sick of buying figures with warped parts.

I think my luck with this issue is just bad, I don't usually buy figures online except for the exclusives on Ringside. Only exclusives I bought was Cactus Jack, Stone Cold and Hardcore Kane and guess what? All 3 had some paint spot or missing paint, so yes, this is an issue if you're dropping $30 bucks with shipping on each figure. You're not exactly getting for what you pay for. I don't see how a huge company can constantly up like this.

Ive had no major issues in the mattel run. Paint smudge here and a looae ankle there, but nothing worth complaining about.

I prefer to hunt retail bc I'm afraid if I order online I'm going to get screwed up paint aps. Also my elite bray is so loose it's ridiculous
