The Exorcist
Halloween 1978
Prince of Darkness
Dark Night of the Scarecrow
The Amityville Horror
I could go on and on every October I start watching old scary movies, mostly from the 70's and 80's and I have a really great collection of made for tv movies from the 70's when they had to rely on good stories for scares.

Probably the Jason or Scream franchises. I have seen some good thrillers but I don't watch too much horror outside of the Halloween season though.

Audition Ringu series Grudge: Ju-On series Pulse Imprint (Masters of Horror) Sinister The Thing Saw (series) The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) Wrong Turn 2 The Descent 1 and 2 The Ring (US remake) The Grudge (US remake) Shutter Thirteen Ghosts Dawn of the Dead (remake) The Hills Have Eyes (remake) I'm intrigued by the films that Mox mentioned, but would say I believe a fair portion of those films to be more in line with the exploitation genre than straight horror. That being said, Lars Von Trier's 'Anti-Christ' is considered art by some fans here in Australia...having seen it, it's hard to argue that point if you are quite the film fan...

It's hard for me to say I have favorite horror films, because the horrific ones are truly hard to watch. Truly horrific movies I've seen: 1. Salo or the 120 Days of Sodom 2. Melancholie der Engel 3. Frontier(s) 4. Irreversible 5. A Serbian Film Movies on my list to watch: 1. Martyrs 2. Inside 3. Men Behind the Sun 4. Philosophy of a Knife 5. Guinea Pig Series 6. August Underground Series 7. Nekromantik 1 & 2 8. Human Centipede 1 & 2 If you liked Frontiers, you should for sure check out inside and Martyrs. Also french and not as effed up as the other you mentioned. inisde is an awesome slasher flick/home invasion film, if i was a pregnant woman this film would give me the creeps. martyrs is more of a psychological film with some very hard scenes of torture to watch, it leaves an impact on you for sure while Inside is more of a violent thrill ride though still disturbing. Other great foreign Horror/thriller films i've watched recently are: I saw the Devil The Chaser Dream Home Killers Bedevilled Dead Snow Dead snow 2 Cold prey trilogy Rec Switchblade Romance A Tale of Two Sisters Montage (2013) Audition Confessions Lesson of the Evil (2012) Battle Royale (2000) The Orphanage Sleep Tight Memories of Murder Hide and Seek (2013) No Mercy (2010) The Host

That movie was a massive train wreck and I loved it. They aired both of them last year on MTV and I caught the very ending of the first but the second was so bad it was good.

Audition is such a freaky movie. I appreciate it because it's such a slow burn before it gets crazy. The dude in the bag...my god. The vomit scene... But the director, Takashi Miike. He's an odd duck, and I don't quite know what to make of him. But if you can stomach some sick s**t, check out a film he directed called "Visitor Q." It's not a classic horror film, but it's quite disturbing, and in my opinion it's one long sick joke. It's pretty crazy though.

Should watch it again soon, actually. Yes, Miike, he is an odd duck but the strange stuff he does is only a fraction of the stuff he actually does, lending itself to more acclaim because it's so hard to fathom this stuff can come from a guy who directs such mainstream stuff in Japan. Miike's take on black comedy is very confronting at times, and though I haven't seen Visitor Q, I have an inkling I'm in for something intriguing to say the least. Thanks

The last film of Miik'e that i watched was Lesson of the Evil, a teacher who is also a serial Killer who plans to slaughter is whole class, a very dark comedy Horror. Miike has some truly sick ideas in his head which he proudly puts to the screen ha.

Imprint was fantastic; though I cringed at times at the English dialogue...English subtitles would've worked, but overall the story was so fresh and gripping, Youki Kudoh impressing me a lot here.

Every Halloween, I watch the following films in this order:
Halloween 1&2(originals), Near Dark, Frailty, The Ugly, and The Monster Squad, Abbott & Costello meet Frankenstein, and Young Frankenstein.
5 fairly heavy films and to finish it out, 3 light hearted films. Its like a mixtape..
