New Zealand was late to the party when it came to banning cellphone use while driving, 2011 I think is when it came into effect. We were relaxed with it like it was the 70s then all of a sudden were bombarded with commercials and PSAs about the dangers. On any given day I will usually see about 20 or so people doing it.
I'll be the first to put my hand up and say I'm extremely guilty of it. Whether it be calls, texting, sending an email or even taking a sneaky photo if something catches my eye. If need be, I'll use the voice to text feature for messaging. I've even had to let my phone go mid call and have fall it down my sleeve to avoid the law seeing. Yes I'm aware its dangerous. Yes I'm aware it causes deaths but I continue to do it and will continue doing it. My iPod is also mounted in my truck which I use while driving too. If I can change radio stations while behind the wheel then changing a song on my iPod is no big feat either.
Is anyone here guilty of using their cellphone while driving? I'm not talking about using a bluetooth headset either.

Whenever I drive I'm scared sh*tless anyway so I don't even think about using my cellphone. I don't like driving at all so no.

It's a rarity, but I've done it.
I'll use the voice to text feature for texts, or type a message if I'm at a red light. If I make a phone call, it's only for a couple minutes; typically to let someone know where I am.

Bluetooth absolutely becomes the sole proprietor which appeases the costly attempt for cellphone conversations. That's about the only thing I use atm.

Yep and I'll keep doing it. I'll talk on the phone, read a text, and defiantly send a text. Sure it's careless and stupid. But I'll keep doing it anyway.

I'm in drivers ed right now and I'm scared of driving when I'm fully paying attention so I wouldn't even think of using my phone

I can understand talking on the phone, because your eyes are still on the road, but texting etc is simply idiotic. I don't care if you're the most experienced driver in the world, your eyesight is taken off of the road to look at a text, and a second is all it takes for you to get into a serious accident.

Not really, no. My phone usually doesn't leave my pocket when I'm behind the wheel. On the rare occasion that it does, I'm extremely cautious, it makes me uncomfortable and I immediately notice that I'm less attentive. If I take a phone call while I driving, I usually put it on speakerphone and put the phone in the passenger seat. It can make hearing the person/being heard challenging, but driving safely is more important.
I almost never read or send texts while driving. If I absolutely need to, I do it at a light and make sure it's quick.

Nope because I need to pay attention and tickets are not fun. where I live...$500 if you're caught texting, even at a stop sign or red light -- $1,000 if you're in a school zone or work zone & you cannot even be using the phone period in a school zone for any purpose (who could afford that?) I don't mess with it, but I have in the past before I got smart to how unsafe it is.........I will answer phone calls if it impacts where I'm driving to, in safe conditions when I get a new car, I'll figure out the hands free stuff

Ill talk on the phone and drive at the same time but it doesnt take my eyes off the road. I also dont drive like an idiot whether Im on the phone or not so that always helps a lot. I wont text while driving but if Im at a stop light I might send a quick text but as soon as the light turns green I put the phone down.

I'm not gonna lie ive don't it plenty of times before. I know it's bad/wrong to do it. I usually would just do it while I'm at a stop sign. Just a few months ago I got a bike for my birthday so now I deffinetly can't talk or text.

I still do sometimes, even though I've got my phone tied into my car navigation/SIRIUS XM system. Makes it easier to answer the phone though.

I just use mine to play music, I even deny phone calls when driving. Not really cause I can't use bluetooth for it, but because I don't want to talk to people when driving. It's my quiet time.

It's a pain in the butt. You can't listen to a CD while the bluetooth is in use. It's rude to the passengers in the car
