With that logic underage drinking and drug use are just wild thoughts!

Never.
As a Truck driver my license is something I can not afford to play with. What ever it is, it can wait. If I needed to handle my phone I would pull over.

I bought a new car last year & I made sure to get one with voice activation, since it's now illegal to be on your phone while driving in the state of Illinois. The only time I am is usually if I'm at a stop light.

No I don't. It's distracting, dangerous and pointless. Just wait until your out of the car to text. It blows my mind that people think its okay to do.

occasionally but I try to avoid it. I'm not that important of a person to where a text couldn't wait. my girlfriend and like 2 of my friends are the only ones that ever text me anyway.

Don't ever plan on doing that. that, I'd rather not die, there's enough lunatics on the road anyways. Just focus on the road (and not dying).

where I live...$500 if you're caught texting, even at a stop sign or red light -- $1,000 if you're in a school zone or work zone & you cannot even be using the phone period in a school zone for any purpose (who could afford that?) I don't mess with it, but I have in the past before I got smart to how unsafe it is.........I will answer phone calls if it impacts where I'm driving to, in safe conditions when I get a new car, I'll figure out the hands free stuff The hands free stuff in the cars is just as equally distracting. It's a pain in the butt. You can't listen to a CD while the bluetooth is in use. It's rude to the passengers in the car that's fair...I knew it'd be a distraction, but if I was alone - I'd at least try the hands free phone call in instances

Roads were so much safer with only payphones out there. I am talking before beepers too...same concept as distracting texts. I miss those days. Plus payphones were like social meeting points. Though, I live with my cell attached to my hand, for the most part, I would give it up to go back to pcs and payphones/landlines. You could actually reach people and they did not have to worry about dead batteries...

I play music and put my phone in the cup holder to amp the sound. I occasionally use speaker to talk or send texts at red lights but other than that no. Never while the car is moving do I actually send a text.

Here in Bama, our state capital made it illegal to drive and talk on a cellphone if it isn't hands free. But its kinda hard to justify when the cops and state troopers are the ones doing it the most.

I used to because i was able to text without looking and if glance quick (quick like I was looking at my rear view mirror) to make sure it was types out right but now I don't take any chances. If I'm in just a side street I'll go slow when I do or pull over quickly but it's usually to tell somebody something like if I'm almost where they are or if something happened

In fact, I'll even be the one who starts a conversation via text message while driving. I live in Illinois as well and I'm pretty good at hiding it. So yea, better watch out if I'm in your neighborhood cause I will be having a silly text conversation about leprechauns and silly putty while you are driving with your hands at 10 and 2 constantly checking all your mirrors. LOL you're damn right I suck.

I use my voice recognition system in my car. It reads my text to me and I can call all hands free. If I am driving and someone texts me I have my navigation read it to me, I then tell it to respond "I am driving, I'll call you in a little bit."
