Amazing match that was hurt by the crappy ending. My favorite WM main event. It was literally the only time we had 2 mega stars in their prime going at it in the main event of WM. It was a unique setting that I feel will never be recreated again.
I enjoyed the storyline of Austin being desperate and willing to do anything to win the WWF Title, but joining Vince was terrible and went against everything Austin's character stood for. If Austin wanted to go back to being a tweener like in '97-98 to add an edge to his character again that's fine. But joining McMahon made no sense character wise and nobody wanted Austin as a full blown heel.

The buildup for this one was fantastic. XIX is my personal favourite (also my personal favourite WM) but this one is great too. I still 100% believe that the ending could have worked if they did the aftermath differently. Posted on here about it several times.
I agree that its possible that this was the biggest WM main event ever. You'd think a face vs. a heel would be more compelling but instead 2 faces with previous history made for an incredible match up. Everyone had a side (Rock 'till I die) but almost everyone also appreciated the brilliance of the other man as well, and it just made for a perfect storm. You'd think 'Taker-HHH and TLC II would be near-impossible to follow but they did it.
