So we have about a month and a half of 2014 left to go. I just want to see what most of you guys thought of the year as a whole in terms of albums that were released. I was going through the albums I've heard/purchased and the albums I've yet to hear/have yet to come out and it became evident to me just how much my music tastes have changed over the years. There's definitely a softening of my "the only thing I will listen to is metal because it gets me amped and RAWR" whereas now I'm finding myself listening to more pop music and enjoying it and especially more alternative rock type things. Still though, there's quite a few metal sightings on here. Here's my list of albums that I listened to and albums that I want to hear. Closer to Christmas I'll use this thread and update it with my top 10 albums of 2014. Keep in mind this is only new studio recordings. Compilations and Live albums didn't factor in, Eminem's upcoming one is a grey area as it's a 2 disc with one disc of new material and another disc being a compilation.
Have heard/own: Iced Earth- Plagues of Babylon Transatlantic- Kaleidoscope Bigelf- Into The Maelstrom The Pretty Reckless- Going To Hell Skrillex- Recess Band of Skulls- Himalayan Lacuna Coil- Broken Crown Halo Lindsey Stirling- Shatter Me Michael Jackson- Xscape The Black Keys- Turn Blue Phillip Phillips- Behind The Light Jack White- Lazaretto Mastodon- Once More 'Round The Sun Yes- Heaven & Earth Judas Priest- Redeemer of Souls Weird Al Yankovic- Mandatory Fun Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers- Hypnotic Eye Godsmack- 1000hp Watsky- All You Can Do Dragonforce- Maximum Overload Opeth- Pale Communion Fozz- Do You Wanna Start A War Maroon 5- V In Flames- Siren Charms U2- Songs of Innocence Slash Feat. Miles Kennedy and The Conspirators- World On Fire Flying Colors- Second Nature Taylor Swift- 1989 Pink Floyd- The Endless River Foo Fighters- Sonic Highways Machine Head- Bloodstone & Diamonds In This Moment- Black Widow Eminem & Friends (The best way I could label it)- Shady XV
Haven't yet heard but plan on it: Wolfmother- New Crown Combichrist- We Love You (didn't even know they released one this year) Sebastian Bach- Give 'Em Hell Epica- The Quantum Enigma Hammerfall- (r)Evolution Robert Plant- Lullaby and... The Ceaseless Roar Exodus- Blood In, Blood Out Primus- Primus & The Chocolate Factory Slipknot- .5: The Gray Chapter AC/DC- Rock Or Bust
Oh and feel free to let me know if there was any albums you don't see on here that came out this year that you lot think I should listen to!

For me it was a pretty good year album wise. Black Stone Cherry released their fourth album, Slash, Myles & The Conspirators are kicking ass, the new Foo Fighters record is ing amazing and with Nickelback and AC/DC releasing new albums in the next few days there's still alot of stuff to look forward to.

Shakira's self titled album was pretty amazing. Cheek to Cheek by Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett was amazing as well. 1989 By Taylor Swift was also good Ultraviolence by Lana Del Rey Head or Heart by Christina Perri Eye For An Eye soundtrack by James Newton Howard finally got a proper CD release 19 years after the movie came out, only 1,500 CD's were pressed. Godzilla Soundtrack by Alexandre Desplat was amazing both Guardians of The Galaxy soundtracks were amazing as well.
Upcoming albums I am looking forward to is Gone Girl Soundtrack by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross The Pink Print by Nicki Minaj Halestorm is supposedly coming out with a new album by the end of the year

I think Train was the only band who released an album this year I liked. I usually love Taylor Swift's music, but her last album was borderline terrible and the new one is even worse.
2015 should be better with Blink 182, Rob Thomas, Kyle Cook (both from Matchbox Twenty) and Jason Wade releasing solo albums.
As Tall As Lions released an unreleased b-side this year, that's about the music highlight of the year lol.
EDIT: Didn't realize the Foo Fighters have released a new album, I'll have to check that out.

It's been a really fantastic year for me music wise, discovered quite a few bands that I fell in love with, got some incredible records from bands I love, and really only had one major disappointment.
Some of the stuff I've been listening to this year:
Fireworks - Oh, Common Life Manchester Orchestra - Cope (and the equally incredible Hope) The Hotelier - Home, Like Noplace is There Every Time I Die - From Parts Unknown Aaron West & The Roaring Twenties - We Don't Have Each Other Taking Back Sunday - Happiness Is Taylor Swift - 1989 Yellowcard - Lift A Sail Foo Fighters - Sonic Highways Bayside - Cult Say Anything - Hebrews Pianos Become the Teeth - Keep You Against Me! - Transgender Dysphoria Blues Ed Sheeran - X Modern Baseball - You're Gonna Miss It All Neon Trees - Pop Psychology Sleepwave - Broken Compass We Are the In Crowd - Weird Kids Young the Giant - Mind Over Matter
New Found Glory's latest record, Resurrection, was the one heart-breaker this year. They've been my favorite band for nearly 13 years and this is the first time I've ever been severely disappointed with any music they've put out.

Restoring Force - Of Mice & Men Issues - Issues Weird Kids - We Are the In Crowd Versus - Emarosa (Huge surprise to me. I thought I'd never be able to like a Jonny Craig-less Emarosa, but Bradley Walden did a fantastic job, I thought) Sixty Saragossa - Favorite Weapon Disgusting - Beartooth Through Art We Are All Equals - Slaves Devil - Chiodos V - Maroon 5 Hold On Pain Ends - The Color Morale Duality - Set It Off (Has my current favorite song of the year, "Forever Stuck In Our Youth") As You Are - Jason Lancaster Under Pressure - Logic
Some of my favorites of the year. Circa Survive's new album releases in two weeks, though, so that could be added. There's also been some great reissues from Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!, Mayday Parade, and Secrets, and EP's from Alesana and State Champs. And some disappointments from Memphis May Fire, Motionless in White and New Found Glory.
