Let me start by saying i grew up with the SNES and loved it, good times. I kinda fell out with gaming with the rise of the PS and XBOX, got back into some with the XBOX 360 but was never really smitten with that either. So i havent gamed for a quite a few years until i just recently got the Wii U!
This is what gaming is all about...fun! Mario Kart 8 is amazing, Donky Kong Country Tropical Freeze is amazing, these are what games are meant to be like. These are the childhood memories i grew up with when having such fun times gaming and im so pleased i took a chance with the Wii U, i havent looked back. If anyone who like myself who has gave up gaming because of all those COD games and such then think about a Wii U and go back to what games are meant to be.
Thank you Nintendo!

I honestly could easily live without an Xbox or PS. Pretty much all of their exclusives are forgettable. I bought an Xbox One but I've barely used it beyond its Blu Ray feature. There's simply nothing worth playing on it. Even Dead Rising 3 was a huge disappointment, literally unplayable.
Nintendo consistently puts out timeless classics that I'll be able to pick up and play in 60 years time. The Wii U is shaping up to be one of the best consoles, with one of the best game lineups of all time, and 3DS is already there. Mario Kart DLC today, Pokemon Omega Ruby AND Smash Bros for Wii U are out on Nov 28th. With all these awesome games coming out soon; Captain Toad's Treasure Tracker, Xenoblade, Zelda U, Star Fox U, Mario Maker, Yoshi's Woolly World, Pokken, Splatoon, Fire Emblem X Shin Megami Tensei, Majora's Mask HD3D, it's undoubtedly a great time to be a Nintendo fan. There's literally nothing on the horizon that interests me on PS or Xbox.
BTW, I recommend you try out these games for Wii U: Wind Waker HD (one of the best games of all time) Mario 3D World Wonderful 101 Rayman Legends (it is on other consoles, but it's much better on the Wii U) Hyrule Warriors Pikmin 3 New Super Mario Bros U New Super Luigi U Bayonetta 2 (I don't have it yet, but the demo was great and it also comes bundled with Bayonetta 1 for those like me who didn't play it)
There are also some fantastic Eshop games like Pushmo/Pullblox and Costume Quest 2.

The Wii U has made me love video games the same way I did when I was a kid. There are so many great games out, that I have no need for any other system.

It's almost a bad thing, because it's eating up all my time. Never before have I sunk over 600 hours into one game within such a short space of time that I did with Pokemon X (including my playthrough of my brother's Y). Tonight, I plan on playing some more of Luigi's Mansion 2, because my 3DS has seen so much use that I haven't even managed to finish that despite it coming out some time ago now!

I didn't know that, was a big reason why I wasn't going to get it since I didn't see the point of playing a sequel without playing the original first. Definitely looking forward to getting a hold of at least a solid majority of those over the next few months. How is the new Mario Kart DLC? I'm dying to go home and play it.

While Nintendo and Sony were having their penis measuring competitions, Nintendo snuck by and was like "Yeah we're going to release a console with a ton of FUN first party games." and it is for that reason why I love my Wii U much, much more than my XBone...
I mean when I can play
Super Mario 3D World Mario Kart 8 Pikmin 3 Windwaker HD (soon to be) Super Smash Bros Bayonetta 2 NES Remix 1 and 2 (which are an absolute blast) Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze New Super Mario Bros. U
And I'm certain that there's more that I'm missing but those are the ones I've played that stand out as some of the best games that have come out in the last year or two. It's a shame that Nintendo isn't getting more of the focus but I will continue to support them because even though people like to make jokes about Nintendo, it's usually because they're too macho to admit they can have more fun with a Super Mario Bros game than a Call of Duty game.

I loved the NES as a kid, and the SNES, and the N64, and even to an extent the Gamecube. But the Wii left me with a very sour taste in my mouth regarding Nintendo, and the WiiU has just been more of the same. Sure there are a few great first party titles. But that is it. Virtually nothing on the third party front that isn't terrible. And Nintendo doesn't even take advantage of the first party titles they have! Which is even more maddening! Where is Animal Crossing on WiiU? Metroid? Kid Icarus? Tons of other brands that their fans are begging for and Nintendo is like "nah." The last few Mario games have also felt pretty uninspired to me as well lately. Right now my WiiU is a Mario Kart machine. I'll get Smash Brothers even though I don't care for it very much just to justify owning it. I do plan on getting Bayonetta as well. I played through Super Mario 3D World and New Super Mario Bros U, and it felt uninspired unlike older Mario titles.
I want Nintendo to succeed, but their efforts are absolutely mind boggling to me and seem like they are deliberately sabotaging themselves, even down to the terrible naming of the console. And this Amiibo stuff? Ugh.
I just disagree that Nintendo is back to their best, because at their best they had a console that not only had great first party titles, but was also the go to for great third party titles as well. Right now, if I could only have 1 of the three consoles, the WiiU would be my third choice for sure.

Right now, if I could only have 1 of the three consoles, the WiiU would be my third choice for sure. Metroid had a game released on the Wii in late 2010 and Kid Icarus was revived in 2012, they don't want to saturate the market by releasing the same games over and over like most other companies do. Nintendo takes years to develop their games, which is why they're so good, and why we usually don't see more than two of a particular game on the same console (note how there's 1 Mario Kart per console etc). The Wii U hasn't been out that long, and they want to portion their main series games out over the course of the console's lifespan. If everything was released within the first year, then that leaves them with nowhere to go apart from rehashing. Animal Crossing is a very popular franchise, with a game that came out recently on the 3DS, you have to give it some time before a Wii U one comes out. I don't see how you can say that Nintendo ignores their fans, when you only have to look at the Smash Bros roster to see that they don't; Mewtwo, the most requested character in both Japan, and the West is returning, they got MEGAMAN, Pac-Man, Little Mac, The Villager, Palutena, Shulk and Bowser Jr; who were all extremely requested characters either in Japan, the west or both. Not to mention that they're rereleasing Majora's Mask, which people have been begging for, for years now, as well as all the recently revived franchises; Kid Icarus, Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin and Star Fox. Their only series that has really fallen by the wayside is F-Zero, and that's because Mario Kart made it kind of redundant to the mass market (even though I loved it).

Maybe it was released on WiiU but I don't recall it. Smash Brothers is nice fan service, I do admit that, and the only reason I am going to get it. I don't enjoy fighting games, and I have always found the actual game play of Smash Brothers to be lacking. But the fan service is the only reason to get it. 2 years isn't really that long for sure, but most people outside of hardcore gamers still don't even realize that the WiiU is a different system from the Wii. Or that it is a full upgrade. I hate Pokemon, but haven't people been crying for a console Pokemon game for ages? Releasing games like Animal Crossing on the 3Ds is great for handheld gamers, but doesn't help a wiiU owner out at all. I know people want HD re-makes like Windwaker and Majora's Mask, but I don't really count those as quality first party titles for a new console. Those are just re-releases. Wasn't Metroid on the Wii just a collection of the Gamecube games? When was the last proper Metroid game? I am glad to see Star Fox on the horizon. But honestly, without 3rd party support the WiiU is hard to recommend as anything other than as a secondary accessory to the PS4 or XB1. Sure, those consoles aren't exactly killing it with first party stuff at the moment. Although the XB1 is on par with the WiiU with first party games right now. Sunset Overdrive, Titanfall, Ryse, Forza, and Dead Rising are all great exclusives for the XB1 (I don't really count Master Chief Collection) and the PS4 has some good exclusives on the way. Also it is disappointing how little Nintendo takes advantage of the virtual console offerings of old games.

Also it is disappointing how little Nintendo takes advantage of the virtual console offerings of old games. Yeah Kid Icarus was a 3DS title, it only came out in 2012, and Sakurai went straight to work on Smash after that so we'll have to wait and see if it ends up being a permanent fixture or just a one off revival. I don't really think of Smash as a fighting game, as much as it is a party game like Mario Kart. Yeah the Wii U marketing has been pretty bad, part of the issue is that it's still called the Wii, which was a stupid mistake (when they announced it I thought it was just a new controller for the Wii, they weren't very clear at all). Pokemon probably won't ever see a proper console game, Nintendo needs it to keep their handheld market profitable. Pokemon literally saved the handheld market from extinction. That's why you only see Pokemon spin-offs like Stadium and Snap appearing on consoles (which has more than enough Mario, Zelda, DK etc to keep it profitable without the need for Pokemon). The last Metroid was a brand new game called Other M, in 2010. They may have done a collection of the Metroid Prime games too, but I'm not sure without looking it up. I guess it depends on what kinds of games you like. Personally, Nintendo may release fewer titles, but they engage me for way longer. I've already sunk 90+ hours into Smash Bros for 3DS, and maybe 3 hours into my Xbox One, and I've had that way longer. I got Fire Emblem Awakening within days of getting my Xbox One, and I put just shy of 21 hours into that in the couple weeks between getting it, and Smash releasing. Xbox and Playstation just release tons of C+ games, you play them once (if that) and that's it. I'll still be playing Smash and Mario Kart until the next games in their respective series' are released. I'll still be able to play Tropical Freeze next year, or in 10 years. Because it was an amazing game. The Wii U already has at least 10 A+ games, the Xbox one and PS just have dozens of mediocre games that I'm well past wanting to put my time into. The only real worth either PS or Xbox has are for their 3rd Party games like Red Dead Redemption, or one offs like that South Park game. I'd like to see them use their VC better too, they just rereleased the DKC trilogy on there which I bought in a heartbeat. I want to see some N64 games on there like DK64, but I have a feeling they may not bother as they'd probably rather release them as HD remakes on the 3DS like Majora's Mask, Star Fox and Ocarina of Time.
