It's shown them that they shouldn't have waited 14 years. The world missed dinosaurs.

Universal will likely be the biggest earner this year.....
F&F 7 was huge.......
Jurassic World is an effin monster
and the Minions have yet to come....nobody can tell me they aren't gonna steamroll the box office too.
Disney with the marvel/SW combo are the only studio that can touch them this year for $$ I reckon. WB, Fox and Paramount got ZIP.

I enjoyed it, but it doesn't top the original IMO. It was a good film, but it didn't feel magical like JP 1 did.
Something about it seemed a little lacking, maybe it's just that I missed Sam Neill.

Doesn't top the original for me either AF but I did feel that some of the magic had returned. Much more so than TLW.

I think JW was a good film for sure, but seemingly overhyped. Maybe I'll enjoy it better when I have it at home to watch because I absolutely LOATHE going to the cinema. People eating/talking, and I'm nearly always sat in front of some ass who kicks my seat.

You can tell that Spielberg had a much bigger hand in the making of this as Exec producer than he had on JPIII.....I found it VERY sad and touching in places too I gotta say

JP3 really lacked any kind of heart. JP3 has kind of a cheap horror film quality to it. I don't think the hunky hero role that Pratt had worked as well as Neill and Goldblum's roles did in the original films. It was a bit too cliche, if it had been anyone but Pratt who brings a good sense of humour into his role with him, I think it could have ruined the film. I did enjoy that Ryder from Melissa and Joey was the older brother! Oh and @bashcrashwiley, I've totally been crushing on Bryce since Spiderman 3.

I noticed that alot of people wanted to compare Jurassic World to the original movie.. And doing so were extremely harsh on it critically. That's unfair I think considering Jurassic Park is an absolute classic. It's one of Spielberg's best films and arguably one of the best films ever made. I will say that I think Jurassic Park 3 is trash and I adore The Lost World despite it's flaws.. I've read alot about the production of the TLW and from everything I've ever gathered on it Spielberg lost his passion half way through production when he realized he wasn't going to capture that sense of magic and wonder that the first film had. Jurassic World definitely captured magic and wonder.
Spielberg was 100% hands on with Jurassic World.. Colin Trevorrow has already said he was overseeing the entire production, sending in notes on the script, etc.. Oh and get this, Steven Spielberg had FINAL CUT of the film.. I have a strong opinion about this but I don't wanna talk about it right now.

Saw it a 3rd time tonight....it still holds up for me. After multiple viewings, the epic scenes are still epic and give me chills. I will be taking my grandpop to see it and my mom as well. I'd love for this to take over as highest grossing of all time, but it would need a re-release like Titanic and Avatar to do so.

Did the size of the old visitor's center bother anyone else?
Watched both films back to back today. The visitor center that shows up in Jurassic World is a really small place.

Just came back from seeing JW with a mate tonight. I really don't get all love this film is getting... But seems to be the trend with movie goers nowadays. Every new blockbuster is the best ever.
My two cents for what its worth. The film crammed in every character cliche possible - impenetrable hero (ex military), his romantic interest, the single career woman, her idiot savant and hormonal teen nephews etc. The plot was all kinds of crazy, and the twists, without spoiling anything, were too convenient. I did enjoy the themes about corporate sponsorship/greed, tampering with genetics and raising animals in captivity early in the film, but felt they were largely glossed over and soon became after thoughts. The product placement was downright insulting (for some reason I feel the urge to buy a Mercedes). The tie in with JP (to nostalgia with those viewers old enough to remember the original) made the film seem better than it actually was. 20 years later i still prefer the animatronics to the supposed advanced computer generated dinos with awful colour schemes. I did like Chris Pratt's performance and found his the only redeeming feature amongst a cast who are either all very bad performers or were hamming it up. The SFX were overdone (dino footsteps should not shake the earth!) and drowned out the score.
In sum, JW had none of the suspense that the original captured so well.
