He wrestled a ton, mostly on Sat Night, Worldwide and shows like that. Very rarely did he wrestle on Nitro. Probably more as Curly Moe with the West Texas Rednecks then with nwo as Vincent

Was Russo even booking (or in WCW) when he went into the Rednecks??

I find it funny that his name "Virgil" in WWF was a rib on Virgil "Dusty Rhodes" Runnels while his name in WCW, "Vincent", was a rib on Vince McMahon.
Basically, Virgil's entire career was a rib.

And he was still more over heading into Summerslam 91 than about 95% of the current roster is now... lol.

Some useless trivia knowledge for ya here.... the man who came up with the name Virgil and Vincent was Bobby Heenan!

I watched Nitro and Thunder fairly regularly and I don't recall seeing him wrestle much... Honestly a bit of a waste.

Virgil was actually a solid wrestler, and he got over. He was kind of a pioneer for black wrestlers in a way, he was one of the first black wrestlers to get a major storyline in the WWF.
And like I said, he was hot with the crowd in 91.

Poor Lonely Virgil... This is why nobody comes up to him at conventions I made the mistake once talking to Virgil at a convention. He just put himself over saying he was a star in Japan and that he taught Beniot everything he knew about wrestling. Of course this was years before what happened. I laughed at him and walked away.

Virgil probably likes to hear himself talk

Bret was out to prove that ANYONE deserved a shot at the WWE Title, and gave one to Virgil. It was a good match too from what I can remember. Goes to show ya how great Bret Hart was in the ring.

It was indeed......not as good as Hart vs 123 Kid from summer 1994 using the same formula.....but its still well above average fare IMHO.
