This is the first X-mas going by that I've been collecting for and I was curious to find out if anyone could enlighten me in regards to the possibility of a Boxing Day sale. I know that it's not as big of a deal in the USA as it is in Canada, but we usually have some pretty big sales up here not unlike Black Friday. Does anyone know if there is a big sale of any kind around that day or any of the other holidays (New Years, X-mas Day, etc) that gets a big sale like BF or CM? Or is it just the standard holiday sale like what's going on currently?
Thanks in advance for anyone who can pass on info.

Basically trying to capitalize on people who got gift cards and such for x-mas by having blowout sales. Also to get rid of as much inventory as possible before companies have to do their annual fiscal year end inventory counts. I'm surprised more people in the US haven't picked up on it and shopped here like Canadians used to do with BF. Sales were equal or better on Boxing Day for years here, and the exchange rate is highly in you're favour right now.

What I think will end up happening is RSC will have a Xmas sale, and that will prob run up until they have a New Years Sale. Just skipping over Boxing day. It would be cool though if RSC did have a Boxing day sale but I doubt it will happen.

I guess if anything look for Canadian sites to see if you can find any good sales since lots of stuff should be marked down. Hoping there are decent sales on Elites but who knows.

Do Canadian Stores offer special sales on Boxing Day? Big time. Up until a few years ago we didn't have BF up here. Only started recently to stop people from shopping down south by giving us deals up here. Boxing Day has always been our equivalent of BF. It's when I do all of my high priced shopping. I also collect authentic hockey jerseys which retail for about 300 per, and I can get them at a third the price. Flyers should start popping up soon for us to figure out what the sales will look like this year but Ya, it's usually pretty good sales on par with BF. Now that I say that though I'd bet money the sales will be crap this year lol.

You will find americans dont tend to know what the heck boxing day is. Its big here in Aus too as its a public holiday and it does kickstart a bunch of sales for stores trying to clear stock whilst extending revenue beyond christmas. It allows them to force people into paying premium price for stuff before christmas because its needed for christmas day and then start slashing prices the next day.

The reason it isn't a thing in the US is that it is a European (and british empire) thing. A day when the servants got the day off (since service people tended to work on Christmas), which has digressed into another commercial day (with sales often way better than anything before Christmas).
I have, as an American now living in Canada, come to expect that Boxing day will be the day to pick up that particular item of value that has eluded me all year (an xbox for $200 in 2008, a 50" Samsung LED TV for $499 last year). In 2008 I managed to find a complete set of the Temple of Doom Indiana Jones figures for buy 1 get 1 (and they were nearly impossible to find at retail before or after christmas).

To be honest I had never heard of Boxing Day. Aren't you like 40 years old? How have you not heard of Boxing Day? Seems crazy to me... Im in my early 30's. They don't have Boxing day in USA. With out using google, can you tell me what a Drop and Hook is? I had a conversation like this at work the other day. Some guy was talking about Romania and it's neighboring countries. I had no idea, so he mentioned how little Americans knew about the world map. So I turned to him and asked him if he knew what states are neighbors to the state of Zacatecas in Mexico. He had no idea. It comes down to knowledge you do not need. I do not need to know where Romania is on the map, I'll never go to Europe. Just like my coworker had no need to know where Zacatecas is, just like I have no need to know what Boxing day is. Boxing day, sounds like a day to honor boxers to me.

I envision boxers or just a day where people take all their empty cardboard boxes from Christmas and use them to make a big ass fort.

I don't think anyone has any use for it except for sales and using gift cards. Used to be a big day for returning crapty gifts to stores and getting credit to buy stuff you wanted until they stopped allowing returns until the new year because it gets too damn busy in the stores now.

Was supposed to be the day that your servants celebrated Christmas since they were waiting on the lords and ladies the day of. I think the name comes form the plethora of empty boxes around. Rumor has it that when I take over the world in 2020 the holiday will be banned and changed to Wrestling day marking the day that the WWE re establishes itself as the WWF once again. And all will be right with the world.
