The Lesnar squash would have had a bit less impact if we'd just seen Cena lose a big feud-ending match to Wyatt, I think... Although at that point, had they taken the belt off Bryan already at Payback? They might still have thought DB was doing the squash job to Brock when they booked the Cena-Bray match to go the way it did so I don't know if SummerSlam had anything to do with it. I think cena would have looked fine going into his lesnar feud even if he'd ha e put over bray. Cena could have still won the title at mitb and then won the fatal four way a month later before moving onto brock. I honestly don't think it would have affected the brock squash at all. It wouldn't. For a company that says fans don't remember two weeks ago they do not want us to forget Cena at all.

Honestly nothing would be different if Bray had won all their matches. Cena would have still won the title at MITB to start the feud with Lesnar and Wyatt would have still went on to feud with Jericho, and it seems like its a good thing he didn't win since people are saying he's boring and sucks in the ring. Beating Cena wouldn't have prevented that either.
The outcome would be the same either way so there's no real point in wasting the worry about it.

100% yes. No explanation needed. Bray needed that win.

At that time I thought definitely yes, but they had nothing for Bray to do post Cena feud, and they clearly had plans for Cena because Bryan went down. In a perfect world where Bryan is healthy, I say undoubtedly yes, but based on what they did, obviously in retrospect, I say no. My overall issue is their full-on commitment to Brock, which runs parallel to their full-on commitment to Roman Reigns, and Bray was just collateral damage to that booking decision. I would have loved to see Bray vs Bryan for the title though had the situation been different.

Yes, 1000%. This win was purely a vanity project for Cena. Bray hasn't been the same since then... his mystique has totally worn off (for reasons related to and unrelated to the WM result) but come on now... six weeks after the PPV Cena was yucking it up on RAW, seemingly oblivious to the fact that he had ever heard of Wyatt before. It's a lame case of Cena putting Cena first and hurting the business.
Selfish, terrible booking like that is a huge reason why the company has experienced absolutely no growth with Cena as the #1 guy. None.
