Reading this book "Titan Sinking" about WWF in 1995. Finally came upon some information I didn't know. Apparently Taker was supposed to wrestle Razor at Mania. Vince approached Razor after Survivor Series 94 and told him about the idea for a match. Razor was excited to turn heel and get back up top in the main event scene. Both he and Taker had apparently taped vignettes _ one of which Taker throws Razor into an empty grave - that never aired. I think Vince nixed it to satisfy Bundy of all people. Taker and Razor were pissed. Anyway - crazy stuff. Anyone else ever hear about this?

Wow, I never heard of that at all!
I wonder how they would turn Razor heel though?? He was pretty damn popular during this time frame, and the fans wanted Razor to get his revenge on Jeff Jarrett and win back the IC Title. Seems weird that they would want to have Razor go heel in 95. But I would love to have seen how it would have went down.

Yeah RR was over like crazy in 1995.....I could see Hall wanting the turn though. Roster was babyface heavy.....Diesel, Bret, Bulldog, Lex, UT & Razor......and would only get worse with Bam Bam & HBK turning face after WM.

That would have been ing amazing. Taker vs. Bundy sucked ass, and Razor vs. Jarrett was stale already. Plus like Joker said the roster was already babyface heavy, and would have given Diesel another option rather than ING MABEL.

Really? Wow that would've been great. Taker would've shown everyone he could work his ass off a year earlier than he did. To satisfy Bundy? that, that match sucked.

I hate King Kong bundy. This would have been one of the best matches of both men's careers, plus razor was always better as the heel bad guy

As much as I enjoyed the Razor/HBK Ladder match at SummerSlam, I would have been perfectly happy with Diesel vs. a heel Razor for the WWF Title.

Never heard of these plans, although I've heard a lot of talk of Razor becoming top heel in 1995.

Their ladder match was good, but I don't think they fully captured the magic of their WMX match. And anything would have been better than Diesel vs. Mabel... Good grief. I think a heel Razor as champ would have been great at some point too.

This was the match we deserved but not the one we needed at the time.

They did have Razor go heel in USWA in 1995 though.
On April 3rd he won the USWA Title as a heel from Bill Dundee and lost it May 1st to Jerry Lawler.
It almost like they were teasing Razor going heel going into SummerSlam too against HBK, but then the handshake and hug at the end made him a huge face still.

Heel razor> face razor I'm still lost as to why Mabel was one of the top heels at the time. Whoever thought Mabel winning king of the ring was a good idea should have been fired

Lex turned face too, he'd have been a great heel for Bret and/or Diesel to feud with in his Narcissist gimmick.

Can't put it down. James Dixon does a wonderful job and is a must read for any old school fan. I am more than half way through and only been reading a couple hours. A lot is touched on. Hbk didn't want to go face in 95 for the same reason razor wanted to go heel. It was so baby face heavy. Even bret hart had to wrestle in the midcard all of 95 basically. Think about that. Bam bam never amounted to anything although there were tentative plans before the buyrate for mania came in to do LT and Bammer as a team at Summerslam. Just read chapter about kotr 95 and how lousy it was. Being from Philly, I had a chance to go but turned it down. That was the only year I didn't watch wrestling. That year didn't even appeal to 12 year old me. Looking back it's fascinating just how bad things were. Vince was obsessed with big guys - couldn't have muscle heads after the steroid trial so he went with fat guys like Bammer and Mabel as top heels. Razor would have been an amazing heel in 95 but maybe it would have been ahead of its time.

Since it was pitched around Survivor Series, they may have scrapped Razor/Jarrett feud in general had Vince decided to keep that match on. Jarrett took the strap at Rumble. I am curious how Razor would have turned heel though. Back then I feel like joining the Million Dollar Corporation would have made sense but that would have been such a generic turn.

Had Luger stayed heel, I think he would've had a much more successful WWF career.

I will still never understand Vince's thinking when it came to 1995.....he underutilised so much of his roster that year.
Razor & Jarrett should have pulled double duty in the Rumble to beef it up. And he had way better combinations of talent to make Summerslam 95 and WM11 much better events.
Also Bam Bam staying heel, winning KOTR 95 and challenging Diesel would have been much better than what we got
