They've had that policy for years. But very few stores ever enforce it. I rember those signs back with the target exclusive dcu 9" figures when Hasbro had the DC license. I think your mistaken I work for target and thier policy is "whatever the guest wants the guest gets" well.......this is the complete opposite its also on a store to store basis..... kinda like how their markdowns seem to work....

That was at the store across from the Woodbridge NJ store when I asked if they had more of the Target Secret Identities Batman/Bruce Wayne figure.

I remember signs like this at my local Target back in '95 when Star Wars Power of the Force was getting big. THAT GODDAMN WHITE LEIA WAS SO HARD TO FIND! My mother and I were running around for ever until we found it. I think she cried in joy. R2-D2 was the one that I was on the hunt for. One employee actually went to the back for me to find it for me. He was cool about it though because I was only like 10 at the time.

So I asked if there was more at customer service (this was before the newer scanners that told you if there was more in back) anyway the person said it showed 6 in stock. So I went back to the dept and found an employee and asked them to please bring them out. But he looked at the tag and said it was a "Collector's Item" and he couldn't bring anymore out. Just what was on the shelf (which was empty) anyway I went back to customer service and told them what had happened and they said the same thing. And again I said I understand that but they had nothing (neither figure in the set) on the pegs. So they called the employee in the dept and asked how many where on the shelf and when he confirmed there were none on the floor they had an employee put them on the pegs. All in all it was a 3 hour experience (a little over 2 hours driving and about 45 in Target) but I got my SI Batman. lol

They don't want to take our money? What are they "saving" them for? I swear, between this, CONTSTANT EMPTY SHELVES, and the rising prices to buy stuff online, I'm getting really frustrated with trying to "collect" these things anymore.... And I got criticized in my other thread for rallying against a retailer who refuses to stock.... It's not supposed to be THIS difficult....

I personally don't understand this... From a collector point of view its good to ward off the scalpers and all but from the stores point of view, the idea is to sell merchandise so why would you essentially prevent people from buying things

I hope there's also a similar note in the stockroom reminding members to actually, you know, put collectibles out on the shelf so that people can buy them. Seriously, why does it seem like these retail stores would rather do everything BUT simply STOCK THE ITEMS? The "hunt" just isn't fun any more.... THANK YOU!!!!

I understand collectors cherry picking cases for 1 figure but when there's nothing on the shelves and their inventory has more in the back, just bring em out and stock the shelves?
Simple business equation?

Target. Put a sign in the manager's office to KEEP THE DAMN SHELVES STOCKED instead of having what WE WANT TO BUY in the stockroom. It's not doing any good back there!!! I totally agree. If there is a street date on a product it should be on the shelf or they should have to go get it. You DAMN RIGHT. Or put them out on a special schematic or something? I've worked at Safeway for a short time, that's what they do some times with special items....I've worked at Wal*Mart for a longer time before that and sometimes they'll actually have something BUILT for hot special item sales that they can't stock on shelves yet. ESPECIALLY on black friday. (at WM, I worked in the back unloading trucks, so I didn't specialize in an area on the sales floor for a while. Then only when they had me, the unloader stocking shelves for the last part of my shift sometimes was when I was able to gain some good knowledge of what we had and where it went.) And if I got a random request for something and I didn't know about or whether we had it or not, I would either try to find the item, find a person who knew about it, or just tell the customer what store might have it.) Nah, we'll just keep them in the back. I don't remember seeing that sign for Rocky Maivia the last time i went to pick up an extra. And I was one of the only people to ask about it before it was ever stocked on the shelf. (and trust me, they had some in the back) I also understand that Walmart and Safeway are different companies than Target. So respect to Target retail personnel in here. I understand collectors cherry picking cases for 1 figure but when there's nothing on the shelves and their inventory has more in the back, just bring em out and stock the shelves? Simple business equation? Nah, that's common sense. You can't employ common sense into business, that's not what's best for business. You'll lose money that way. Don't give your customers what they actually want or even give them straight answers about when they will see what they want. Just keep them in the dark wondering when the hell you're going to actually share what you have with the customers who waiting to give you money in exchange. This is a problem altogether. The scalpers who grab a whole set and sell it for stupid prices...and I understand the "borderline" harassment as well. But you have to consider again, when you see a bunch of people in a forum like this who say "look what I got at (insert retail store)" and "check out your local (insert retail store) for these" you go to your local and look for them. When you don't see them, you ask a customer service representative or someone who might specialize in the department of the item you are looking for. I ,personally, don't appreciate being lumped into the "scalpers" for just wanting something that I've seen someone else grab at the same store at another state and going and asking about it. I don't think other good customers appreciate it either or just being laughed at and blamed for carelessness and laziness on management/customer service's part. I'm not talking about the good employees at target who actually want to help you out, but the ones who don't even look you in the eye, when you ask, and just point at the toys section and says "If it's not over there we don't have it." And then ignore what you have to say about other items with a similar situation where they didn't have it stocked but there were plenty in the back. (I suck at customer service, but even I know you don't do that.) Again, it's common sense to check for something you want that has been advertised one way or another, or sold at the same store in another state, especially if it's been "street dated", if they don't have it, wait a while then check again...Like I did with Rocky Maivia. Hopefully, parts of what I said made sense to someone here. Because i know others are just going to point out that it was a lot to read or just continue to use ridicule to shut people up.

Sign should read - We don't really want your money if it requires any extra effort on our part. Totally agree

Also, might i add, we try to get figures at the store price because the price is usually reasonable. Why go buy from a jackass selling the figure set for 250 when you can get the whole set for under 100? I gave up on buying it at the store because I didn't want to bother them any more.

My local Target is super cool. Every time I've asked about an items stock status, they've been cool to check. I bought my case of Rocky Maivias sealed right out of their stockroom. They seemed blown away when they sold all 4 with no effort.

You would think Target would love anyone to buy their figures at the prices they are at. The Hall of Fame set is not a limited edition set (individually numbered) or anything. If they sold a case to a collector it should prompt them to order two on the next shipment, pretty simple but we all know that makes too much sense.

This is what scalpers do to us... Exactly. I buy these figures for my kid but the only one he really knows is the Ultimate Warrior. Can't find this Warrior anywhere. 10 Targets within a 30 mile radius of me and not one store has them stocked. They all DID. However, all were scalped clean. The dorks in their swap centers and comic shops have them for sale at 30-45 bucks apiece.

I dont ask alot at Target but when I have they have been super cool.
The only I have really asked when truly wanting something was when e22 just hit.
I got Rock, Sandow and Tensai off the pegs.
I found a lady who was stocking if they had Giant.
She takes Tensai with her to actually look and see if they had Giant.
She came back out not 30 seconds later with him.
I was extremely impressed and told the manager how helpful she was.
