I've always thought they were pretty good. It's amazing ECW, the niche company, were able to get mainstream figures. Sure, the scale was off (why buh buh Ray and Shane Douglad are so much taller then others idk. And the repaints in later series were pretty bad. Taz and Justin credible come to mind. But the likeness was pretty good for the most part. Shane Douglas face is great, better then spam later attempt. RVD was the best overall looking figure until mattel. Jakks either gave him a wonky face or left the back of his singlet incomplete.
Anyone else have a soft spot for these guys? Favorites?

ECW has always been a guilty pleasure of mine, I still mark out when an ECW guy appears on the indy scene. After some poor early attempts with WCW by OSFTM, the ECW were amazing. The first two series were the best, but the accessories were generally too small and the repaints were horrid like yellow shirt Dreamer, red or green shirt Credible and purple singlet Taz.

I actually like these figures a lot. Really a great figure collection. I lurk them on eBay sometimes. I think my favorite is probably Mike Awesome.

the repaints were horrid like yellow shirt Dreamer, red or green shirt Credible and purple singlet Taz. Those were exactly what I was referring to. Horrid indeed. Surprisingly you can find these figures online for pretty cheap. I agree, I think first 2 waves they were better then WCW line

I got lucky in that the person who I got the majority of them from had all but about 10 figures MOC and I could get them in one shot. I was able to gather most of the others quickly for the most part with the remaining two or three I needed taking about 6 months. I was able to find the ring and weapons sets soon after also. I liked that there was a variety of new faces, although there were repaints among those in the set.
I included photos of them in the WCW stickied thread at the top of this section of the Forum on page 3.

I liked the ECW line, still looking to add The Dudleys, Jerry Lynn, Super Crazy & Lance Storm to my collection

a great line from a company that had not given us much until that point. yes some of the repaints were just weird and out of line, the yellow dreamer and blue taz come to mind, but sometimes you got amazing repaints, like the white and red storm or the last new jack

I can honestly say that I never really cared for them. They weren't far off par from Jakks BCA figures, but still just don't look that good to me. It was cool that they got toys, but I feel as though they were OSFTM trying to stay in the wrestling market with then dated looking product, much like Jakks tried with TNA after WWE.

I had a lot of fun with these when I was a kid.
I mean, they had limited articulation, and most of them had buttons on their backs that controlled some kind of ridiculous arm movement.....but for some reason I just loved playing with them when I was a kid.
I wish they had been a little more accurate.

My friend and I loved these. We played the hell out of these figures- keeping detailed record books with all the storylines match results and title histories- we were way too old probably LOL but it was definitely the last hoorah after years of great Fig action.
So yea, total guilty pleasure. At the time I think they were not bad at all. On par with Jakks EASILY.

Kind of a little bit of both. I bought a ton of them, all of which I still have. Some of them were pretty damn awesome, Sandman and RVD stick out. Others, like Raven in particularly, didn't turn out that great. There were some real gems though, Jerry Lynn since that was his only attempt to-date. At the time they were coming out I thought they were awesome, which is the only way I can look at it honestly. The Rhino in black was one of my favorites as well,

I love them, I have a complete roster. Wish they released the Amish Roadkill figure. I read somewhere that Kid Kash, Spike Dudley, and a few other were rumored to be made in future series, but they ended the line. But I'm happy with the figures my favorites are Dreamer, Sandman, Rhino, Nova, New Jack and Devon Dudley.

At the time they were coming out I thought they were awesome, which is the only way I can look at it honestly. The Rhino in black was one of my favorites as well, ECW Sandman is probably my least favorite wrestling figure ever. He was super fat, had almost no leg articulation, was in white pants for no particular reason when Sandman always wore black pants or jeans.. And worst of all, came with a random weapon and not a kendo stick. WCW's Sandman was SO much more accurate to Sandman.. Unfortunately I had the ECW one as a kid.. so Sandman only ever appeared in battle royals as body fodder, an honor that kept LJN King Kong Bundy, Nikolai Volkoff, and Iron Sheik out of retirement until about 2002.

I got the series one RVD autographed by the man himself. Also MOC, I have series one Shane Douglas and New Jack. I bought the TRU exclusive cage ring, although I got rid of it before I moved south. Loose, I have Nova, Justin Credible, Rhino and Sabu. They weren't too bad. Easy to recreate ECW matches with, and reminded me of Hasbros - with their almost cartoonish look and single action feature.

I have a few loose (Guido, Sabu, Axl and some others that escape me at the moment) and agree that they are a bit of both...good figures but not great...
