Can someone enlighten me on why Mattel paints the skin tone of hands of the characterd in suits, and also Doink. I understand why Lesnar's fingers are painted because his glove covers almost his entire hand. But on figures like "suits" and Doink where there whole hand is skin, why are the hands painted opposed to just normal molded hands. Thanks

the answer is there painting over old figures if you look on the Bottom of doinks foot it says he was made in 2011....so in my opinion sometimes its painting over other superstars that the toY was molded for originally

The only thing I can think of is that Mattel probably molds Billions of each hand and stockpiles them. So when a new figure is being made, they take the appropriate hand and add Whatever skin color or deco to it that is required.

The suited figures' arms are generally shot in the color of the suit including the hands. I suppose it is most cost effective to shoot in as few colors as possible. Perhaps it is some balancing act, as in painting costs [x] amount when using many colors and far less when using [x] colors, and the same for color casting.

In the case of Doink, the boot mold was made in 2011. Its a generic boot mold that a lot of figures use. They're not really "painting over" figures, they're just using an older mold. As for the hands, its something only Mattel can answer.

They use same parts for tons of figures. Would be too expensive to use new molds or new color molds for every figure. probably a set of basic parts they use and just paint accordingly. not everyone is the same skin tone, so painting small parts like hands may be a way to keep cost down
