So lately, I've been watching old Tough Enough episodes on the network and it got me thinking, "What if Gut Check returned, with a similar Tough Enough format?!" ...
Al Snow is on the TNA payroll. "Big" is on the TNA payroll (a major factor behind the scenes). Taz is on the TNA payroll.
Plus, you've got Kenny King (TE2 finalist)... Awesome Kong (TE2 entrant) ... Gunner (TE2 entrant) - those 3 could easily act as assistant coaches, to Al Snow (and sometimes Taz when he's there).
Each week, a guest appearance - either from Tough Enough's past (Jackie Gayda, Matt Morgan, Taylor Matheny-Kendrick, Maven Hoffman ... all could be brought in on a 1-shot-off basis, which is totally not out of the realm of impossibility), or currant TNA stars (especially the champions, as well as Sam Shaw, a past Gut Check winner - maybe bring back Crimson for that matter; and Spud, being the winner of the British Bootcamp). Hell, during the 1st week, have Josh Matthews come in and tell his story and critique the contestants.
So it would really have that 'Tough Enough vibe' to it, but it's referred to as Gut Check.
Bring in 12 hopefuls (6 guys, 6 girls). 1 elimination every week. Instead of awarding the contracts, the final 4 at the end are paired off into 2 matches. The judges, coaches, and an interactive audience can then choose who of each match, should get a contract, based on how well they performed in the match (doesn't matter who won or lost the actual match, the 2 contestants compete through their performance). So it would end just like how Gut Checks in the past on IMPACT always resulted, yay or nay. So it would be like contestant 1 vs. contestant 2... which one gets the contract? Then have contestant 3 vs. contestant 4... which one gets the contract? That finale could take place on IMPACT.
More than likely very far fetched from actually happening, but pretty cool to think about the possibilities. D'lo Brown once called it "The American Idol of wrestling", so it'd be a good way to bring in some new blood into the company as well.
