I had a locksmith come by to replace my deadbolt a few months ago. He saw my display shelves and started taking pics on his phone. He thought it was awesome. Other reactions have ranged from "It's cool." to "Whatever floats your boat." Nobody has ever been negative about the collection, at most just indifferent.

Can I just say how cool this thread is. People may think this is silly of me, but I go through doubts about collecting because of what the 'reactions' might be but to see they are mostly positive is really settling. Plus I am at the stage now where I've gotten out of it and gotten back into it so many times I'm gonna stick with it no matter what, lol. It's been cool to read some of these, not having any actual reactions to offer myself.

When you first walk into my house, you have to either go upstairs or downstairs. If you go upstairs, it looks like your typical nice house. If you go downstairs, the first thing you’ll notice is this. Now, the reactions have varied from the obvious, “you’re a WWF fan” to the outrageous, “you wrestle / box / do MMA!?” and everything in-between. I’ve heard people say to each other, “this must have costs thousands of dollars” or “it’s so sweet of him to put his Wife’s, Daughter’s, and Son’s names on his Belts!!” Guests have always asked if the Belts were real, to which I reply, it’s as real as Professional Sports Wrestling Entertainment. I’ve heard kids asking their parents for one. I’ve heard husbands ask their wives for one. I’ve heard wives ask their husbands for the Divas one. I’ve heard people say, “I always wanted the one Hulk Hogan had back when I was a kid.” It’s a pretty good feeling whenever someone sees my collection in person for the first time. Two things: 1)Sweet holy hell that IWGP championship is glorious! 2)This whole thread is awesome.

When I get older and buy a house or whatever, I'll show my parents and immediate family my crap but when it comes to aunts and uncles. Nope. They are a bunch of self loathing dicks who make fun of everybody behind their backs. Although I don't care what they think, I'm not going to give them the privilege of giving them another think to make fun of me for. I don't consider them my family but I am forced to. Whatever. Cool thread.

First, cool thread. Second, screw everyone. Do what makes you happy. Third, I'm engaged so it's too late for her. She's seen the obsession and stuck around!!

Not many people know that I collect, but they have known that I use to, but that was when I was younger.
I personally don't care what anybody says, because everyone has a hobby or has something that that don't want anybody to know (especially if you're paranoid about rejection or ridicule of the hobby), but when I buy something at a store I just buy it like anything else.
The hobby is what it is, but I think the big problem that people have with it that don't partake in the hobby, is that it's looked at as a "toy" and not a collectible item for adults.
I personally love the hobby, but hate scalpers.

Well, so far, most adults just look and hold all remarks. Most people that know me well enough to be let into my home know I've been a fan for years.
The biggest reaction I get is from kids. My little nephew (4yr) has told me on multiple occasions that I have to leave toys for other kids. I guess he thinks I walk into TRU and just buy everything. I've had some of my wife's little nephews come over and just stare in awe. Most of the time they want to play with the toys. I have a box of random toys that I have ready for just such an occasion.
More recently though since my son was born I bought him a crib. For a while I hadnt put the crib together so I just put the big crib box in front of the door that leads to my toys. It's been perfect because no one moves the box to go any further.

Really grinds my gears!!!! My wife does the same thing! She "gets it" but sometimes will have to dissuade me from buying a 5th or 6th Punk or Bryan. I think she's just looking at it from a different perspective because then she'll turn around with a new gig for me

My close friends have always just seen it as normal with me,mostly because my collection used to be much bigger before I sold the majority of it. Now it's in cabinets in a corner of my room in its own dedicated area, it's rarely seen, but those that do a see it think it's a little obsessive or weird but doesn't matter to me, I've been the same for over 10 years and my love for my collection hasn't gone at all. Most people don't understand (probably even figure collectors also!) that I by two of all of The Rocks figures, one loose, one MOC, but that was always my target to do so, so I always have. My ex was never bothered, she embraced it and never saw it as a bad thing and same with my current girlfriend, I told her I had a guilty pleasure and there it was, no questions asked, just it's my hobby. The same as her liking Hello Kitty really!

The reactions have gotten surprisingly better over the years. when I was 16 it was usually you still play with toys? Then some of my closer friends would get to my house after school before i did and rearranged them into "odd" positions.
now im almost 28 and ive heard You must really like WWE. Nice collection. Wow thats cool or when i tell them how i sold off most of my collection and it helped me move they really get interested. They usually hear about wrestling figures now and then when hanging out at my house. I even have friends who text me when they see ones i dont have. The way i see it is if they walk into my house and see my collection they know im going to keep doing it no matter what they think.

I'm 26 and started collecting early last year. At first I kept it quiet, but then I thought... why? Do what makes you happy. So I started to embrace it

My aunts/uncles always make fun of my collection. They call it "boy barbies" or "wrestling dolls." It really grinds my gears. Also, when I have more than one of a specific character, people say "why do you need more that one (insert character name here)?" It makes me pretty mad because I like having characters with multiple attires. I'm also the only one in my entire family who watches wrestling often. My cousin occasionally watches it and he used to collect but he hasn't got a new figure since 2012 and his collection is stored away in a box.
