Damn that sucks, you should have asked more about the job first and did research on the company. If all else fails go postal on that company. Just kidding.

It is stuff like this that probably led Nash and Hall to fight for guaranteed contracts.

The question to ask is what sort of motivation this place has to fire a person and have such a short turnaround time on it's employees. The answer is money, I just don't have the equation, but the solution is always money. You sir are correct. First doing what they did means not having to pay benefits, and also unemployment (because you don't have enough hours accumulated), second it means they can run with very low overhead because you are still a trainee, which results in them not having to pay you any bonuses or raises. They honestly used you, while I would not do anything involving the law or suing, I would put in a comment to the BBB, to warn other future employees.

I have several Cutco knives in my own kitchen and 2 I use at work.

Knives are great, business is a pyramid scheme basically. they recruit you to work, make you buy a set of knives. then you get credit for knives you sell, they also make you recruit people to sell for you so you get a percentage and the person who hired you will as well. pretty sure they wor under vector marketing due to bbb shutting them down originally. I'm sure someone will sign up for the board now and try to say I'm wrong...

Sorry to hear this man. I had something almost like this happen at my last job.
I was hired to work at a pet store.I had to do construction on the store and help with all the setup.I was making 40 hours a week and loved going to work everyday. When the store opened i got my hours cut from 40 to 18 i asked the boss why and she told me everyone's hours got cut because of coperate. I then noticed that i went from 18 hours a week to 6.5 hours a week and again i asked why and got the same answer.I also noticed that all the other employees where getting 18 to 25 hours a week. One week later i was called into the office and i was fired. I asked why but she never gave a reason.I then told her someone was messing with my hours and her response was "Yeah i know i was". I have been out of work for 2 weeks. I start my new job tomorrow.
