Back before Hogan went heel he and surfer Sting wrestled on Nitro. It was their first match. Sting had Hogan in the scorpian deathlock but the heels ran in. This match got me back into wrestling after I was a kid and was so disgusted after Hogan lost to the Ultimate Warrior. I know this happend but cant find squat about it anywhere. One would think it would have been a big deal. Am I dreaming or insane?

I believe you are thinking about this match from 1995.
It was during Hogan's weird "dark phase" where he was face but wrestled more heelish.
CLassic WCW (and now WWE) giving away a huge match on free TV.

They must never talk about this because it is confusing and a little deflating that he wore the black amd white get up beforw NWO

Once the NWO hit, ever notice how EVERYONE seemingly wore black and white, heel or face, NWO or anti-NWO? Sting & Luger of course come to mind, but I believe Bischoff just LOVED those colors or something, being a leather-wearing biker himself into the black-clad look, and / or it was simplistic to make gear with just two colors for people perhaps? Eventually, even Hall had WHITE blood (illogical) on his black Outsiders / Wolfpac gear. While it was "new" and definitely FITTING for his grouping (NWO Hollywood, post-NWO faction split), I theorize new gear was cheaper by having black and white for materials on hand for the seamstresses and such. Just a thought ... Albeit I DID always dig when opponents (not just tag teams like RADICALZ at Survivor Series 2000) would match too, like Flair vs Luger back in '88 or Sting vs Flair '94 Clash in gold and black combos, etc. I notice a lot of real life friends would do that quite often as well (not ALWAYS, but occasionally at least), such as Eddie & Jericho, for instance. While they'd be fighting each other in the ring, they would wear color-coordinated, opposing attires, which I always found to be pretty neat. There was also Savage, during the 'blackballed' era, who would be wearing only black trimmed in white, but he was not yet in the NWO, and appearing mysteriously in early '97 with Black & White Crow Sting. As aforementioned, Luger in the white boots black trunks, etc. etc. etc.
