My daughter is 16. She thinks she likes NXT better because she thinks the wrestlers try harder. I think she's right.
I also think HHH has something to do with it. Like maybe Vince is out of touch and HHH isn't.
Or maybe NXT is targeted toward the hardcore wrestling fan kind of like Internet Wrestling Boards. Casual fans might like Raw and Smackdown better but they don't post here so we can't hear their opinion.
But back to my daughter's point. The way it works is you try harder in NXT so you can get called up to the main roster, then Vince burries you. Consequently NXT is better.

Absolutely agree...but having three hours for your flagship show and being unable to get across a product that doesn't feel like a chore to watch is an impossibility it seems...

All the big TV must watch shows (Walking Dead for guys, Pretty Little Liars for girls as an example) are 1 hour. Not saying raw can be 1 hour, but you leave the viewer with too much content per week, which doesn't make the next week must watch. I've been an advocate for the brand split since the brands merged

What you bring up is a very compelling argument. Somehow though, I have to say it doesn't quite feel overexposed. There's a great deal talented and young performers so there's a lot of possibilities booking wise, and many stars who I believe could still use additional space to see pushes.
Ever since the brand extension ended though, it seems like many of the stars from the main roster are seeing more wear and tear. People seem to get injured more (maybe it's just me)
I think nxt is ok and I think wwe is fine how they are.

HHH opens every show it seems like, and rollins is quickly becoming stale. (will probably get heat for this but it's ok) I miss the backstage segments from the attitude era where there was more of a fun storyline in the shows

I have been saying that for years The moment when Raw went to 3 hours I knew Smackdown was dead. Raw needs to be 2 hours and Smackdown needs to be 1 hour and have different wrestlers on it.

RAW - 2 Hours Smackdown - 2 Hours (please bring back Heat) - 1 hour
There. Both RAW and Smackdown have different rosters. Heck, bring back the WHC if they have to but it's hard to deny that when the brands were split we had some fantastic storylines/matches
While we are here, having a 3 person commentary team is overkill as well. Stick Cole & JBL on RAW and Lawler & Saxton on Smackdown. We really don't need a 3 person conversation happening while the show is going on.

Cutting Raw to 2 hours is senseless fantasy booking because the company is dependent on the revenue the show draws. Plus, there were an equal number of complaints when Raw was two hours anyway.
And bringing the brand split back would be atrocious. Everything would repeat much more often and get stale much faster. It'd last about a week before the threads would start asking for the brand split to end.
Realistically, what they should be doing is featuring more wrestlers and giving them less TV time. Instead of spending 15 minutes giving us the same Ziggler vs Harper match we already saw a hundred times, they should give Ziggler a little character time, Harper a little character time, put Heath Slater and Zack Ryder on, etc. There are too many matches that last too long with too little reason for us to care about them. Give lots of guys 2 minutes to do something instead of giving a few guys repeated 15 minute matches every week.
And even that's flawed, because Heath Slater skits in English aren't gonna play well (or have to be edited out) in foreign language countries, whereas a 15 minute boring rematch just needs that country's local commentators overdubbing and it's fine. WWE needs that international revenue.

I agree 100%. I rarely even watch Smackdown anymore.

I miss the era of one hour Raw. The show felt like a weekly treat, the main guys didn't wrestle every week and it truly made everything seem more special. Nowadays, ppvs and raws are kind of one in the same so there is less and less uniqueness to each show and the "big events" seem more regular.
