Mainly because you guys wouldn't shop at Target so they all had to close down Because Target wasn't the same as it is in the states. Everything was expensive and we didn't get the great deals that you guys get. We never got any exclusives or anything special. So why shop at Target for something you can get cheaper at Walmart?

I'd like Mattel to fix their website so that ALL WWE figures on the site can be shipped to Canada. Just tried to order the DM Razor Ramon off their website, but they would not accept my Canadian address for a shipping address. Yet I've ordered a lot of figures, including the Bryan/HHH 2pc, off their site with no problem. Every now and again I choose a figure that they won't ship to Canada. I'd like to know how they decide which figures can be shipped to Canada and which can't. They're basically teasing me with that Razor right now!!! Yep, as ARUN mentioned DM Razor has been spotted at Canadian TRU just last week for $29.99 and is listed as WWE PROMO FIG. Oddly enough, the sighting was made originally by me lol. I have a pretty good record here now. I was the first person on the boards to spot the Michael Cole BAF wave and now DM Razor heheh.

Hey you guys had the Kane BAF before the U.S, so quit complaining. So? You will eventually get the Kane BAF, we will never get the HOF series without paying massively over the odds plus customs charge.

But what is stopping Mattel releasing the HOF set or exclusives in the UK and the rest of the world just in general? Retailers not wanting them. Mattel can only send stuff to stores if stores order it, and most international retailers are hesitant on the specialty lines. Being in the UK, I feel your pain buddy... we hardly ever get any store exclusives - heck, we never even had any of the Legends series, Entrance Greats or original Defining Moments figures either. We did, just not as widespread. Forbidden Planet got Legends series 2 (and 1 I think, but I never saw them). They definitely got the first series of Defining Moments too, and possibly the second. And they got a bunch of Entrance Greats. Midco Toys/Toy Planet in the midlands got Legends 1 for sure (I bought Stone Cold from the Derby shop), and most/all of the Entrance Greats.

Debut Mankind was an Amazon exclusive. Does Amazon not ship certain things to Canada? I have no clue. I'm sorry about Mattel's distribution to Canada, though. I'd be pretty annoyed/pissed as well.

Well, I called Mattel Corporate and spoke with someone from customer service just now. The 1-800 number I used was listed for Canada at service.mattel.com, but I reached a customer service rep from the United States.
She was very polite, however she had no idea how to answer my question. She had zero options for me as to someone else who I could contact here in Canada to answer my question besides a 905 number from Mississauga, Ont which is long distance for me. Maybe someone here from Ontario can call 905-501-5147 and post their discussion with Mattel.
The rep was surprised to hear that we don't have K-Mart, Fred Meyer, Walgreens and Target here in Canada. She simply suggested that I check my local discount stores to see if WWE products have been sent there for clearance by bigger retail chains. Never have Dollarama or any similar stores carried WWE figures, let alone Elite figures.
And for those of you who keep saying not to complain to MattelDesignTeam, I'm not. I chose this forum to post this topic in because it is related to wrestling figures and it affects many, many users here on WFigs. Whether MattelDesignTeam could even do anything or not is irrelevant. If you don't like what you're reading in this topic, you're welcome to not take part in the discussion.

Oh I know, I have been looking in my local TRU: 1) is not great with restocking new and old figures and the second TRU is drowning in BAF Jim Ross figures since Christmas. So I figure I would save some time spent checking and rechecking stores for new product, I just buy the figure from Mattel.

Target pays to have exclusives. Your beef should be with Target. But that's just it. Target is no longer in Canada. I mentioned in my original post that Mattel needs to figure out some way to get these figures into Canada and to other countries around the world. So what if Target in the US pays for them? That does nothing for international collectors (who by the way outnumber collectors in the United States.) Shocking, I know. Giving exclusivity of certain figures to one retailer in the US is one thing, but to completely deny international collectors the opportunity to purchase certain product just boggles my mind. What makes matters worse is that these figures that we're missing out on are typically awesome figures too. Seriously Mattel, don't you want our money?!? They're Target exclusives, they paid for them, no one else on earth can stock them, it's so simple. Just buy them online. By your reasoning, any store should be able to stock Ringside exclusives also and that can only happen if Ringside sells them to another retailer and that's how it should be.

"No thanks Mattel, we don't think a million expensive Ricky Steamboat figures will move off our shelves quickly." Smyths and co realised how poorly those lines would sell before ordering them, whereas US chains only realised after having so many unsold. Forbidden Planet could (at the time) take the chance on buying in smaller quantities at a higher price. And even then, I was still seeing Iron Sheik figures a year later from what must have only been one or two cases a store.

We didn't get loads of the legends series, none of the HOF series so far, we don't get ringside exclusives, we don't get target exclusives, we don't get Kmart exclusives, Walgreen exclusives, we didn't get some defining moments, Amazon exclusives etc....
But its ok, we got one set (that wasnt actually exclusive to us btw) and the baf Kane set a little earlier (the US does have it). Score!

Toys R Us/Target etc. exclusives are agreed with the U.S. based chains as they have signed to have exclusivity for the relevant lines sold there and paid for it accordingly. In Canada and the UK, from where I hail, Target doesn't exist and in most cases U.S. Toys R Us exclusives don't appear in the stores located in both of those countries. If you pay for exclusivity and then the items appear in other stores then you have paid for nothing as there is no longer exclusivity. It creates a secondary market for profiteers to buy and sell to foreign buyers. I saw the whole Kane Baf set at the weekend and got the JR series in store in the UK, but if Mattel and TRU think I'm going to drop £100 on the lame Kane set when I got the whole HOF series 1 set for £58 they are crazy, surely its not hard to see that the TRU exclusives need rethought and brought up to the same level as the Target exclusives, I mean how exclusive is a cena,Wyatt, taker and Bryan and just to make it even less appealing the add Kane as the BAF. Is it any wonder the TRU's near me have had to down size their stores from huge ones into tiny ones. Smyths have blew them out of the water by knowing their customers they know how many sets of figures they need and sell, and also get the new figures out as soon as they can. They don't have shelf warming on TRU scale as any figures they have extra they reduce them to around cost to move them on and keep their shelves fresh. I hoped that Mattel , smyths and Target could have came to some agreement where Smyths could become the UK outlet for Target exclusives, I wondered why the HOF series isn't marked as a Target Exclusive, I've got my fingers crossed that this was done for a reason.

So if I understand correctly, you are saying that Target's exclusive awards them worldwide rights to this product, even though they don't do business outside the USA?! Great business move on Mattel's part, they award exclusive rights to a company that only does business in one country- brilliant! Easier said than done, the value of our currency is dropping like a stone which makes buying stuff from the US very expensive. We are getting screwed in more ways then one here in Canada- poor availability of these figures and high prices for those that are available here, on the one hand and a poor currency that makes buying stuff from the USA cost prohibitive, on the other. Poor example, Ringside ships internationally which means people from outside the US can order items from them including their exclusives. Craphole Target does NOT ship outside the US, another reason to hate this company FYI, the reason stupid Target shut down in Canada is due to their own incompetence NOT because of consumers. The main complaint from people who shopped at Target was that the stores were full of empty or half empty shelves- would you shop at a store that barely had any product on the shelves?! Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that keeping your shelves stocked with products is part of basic retailing 101, looks like Target failed that class. They had 2-3 years between the time they first announced they were coming here and the time they actually opened their first store- what were they doing during that time, twiddling their thumbs?! Wal-Mart has been in this country for over 20 years and is very successful, so don't tell me that we are to blame for Target shutting down- Target is to blame! They obviously had no clue what they were doing which begs the question why open over 100 stores all at once- arrogance or sheer stupidity would be my answer. After realizing that they screwed things up big time, what do they do- they cut tail and run, instead of trying to fix the problem.

It just seems like a bad business move by mattel, I completely understand the idea of exclusivity from a business stand point but why not give exclusivity to other toy stockists in other countries...
Surely that would make Mattel more money and make a lot of disgruntled collectors happy?
Why you hate Canada Mattel? Why you hate the UK? Why you hate Australia Mattel? :/
Why you leave money on the table Mattel? #MiniRantOver
