Hey all!
On a bit of a whim, I decided to make a quick Friday evening drive up to Neshaminy Mall, just outside Philly, to meet "The Living Legend" Larry Zbysko. I had met Larry at WrestleMania 29 AXXESS, and was hoping to get my photo from that event signed.
I had to work until 5PM, and the signing was 6-8, so after a rough day at work, I took care of getting my kids home & was on the road by 5:45..... hit a bit of Friday Philly traffic, and got there a little after 7PM.... needless to say, by the time I straggled in the door of George's Cards & Collectibles, I felt like I'd come to the end of a journey! But the journey was worth it!
No line for Zbysko, just a bunch of the employees sitting around chatting with a wrestling legend - that's the best kind of signing!
As has been my "question" lately, I asked Zbysko what he thought about Sting losing to Triple H at WrestleMania...... it seems to be a question that almost everyone has an opinion on. Zbysko's opinion was a little different than I expected though....
"Sting? Well, he should have quit years ago," Zbysko said. "He never could cut a promo, just that weak 'Woooo' thing, which was a cheap ripoff of Ric Flair. And he was so winded during his match at WrestleMania, the one time he stood up to catch his breath - he had a huge bald spot, his fake hair was wild, and he looked like Bozo The Clown! I was laughing my ass off...."
Huh... I consider myself a bit of a Sting fan, so I just laughed with him & we moved on to the autograph part..... I also chatted with him about one of my favorite segments he was involved in, WCW "Up All Night"...... he said he remembered that segment & had a good time filming it.....
Well, on to the autograph!
And, since I went to all the trouble to drive to Neshaminy, I figured I wasn't leaving without another photo! Larry appears to be in excellent health, he seemed happy & in good spirits!
So, another great time meeting wrestling's "Living Legend", 2015 Hall of Famer, Larry Zbysko! As I left, he was still sitting with the staff, like a king holding court.... telling them some old war stories... you could tell, he absolutely loved being the center of attention. Glad he's getting to enjoy his retirement & it's nice to see him spending quality time with his fans!
Thanks for reading! Tomorrow night, I'm packing up the wife & kids - we're off to Lancaster, to meet "Rowdy" Roddy Piper!
