It gets done all the time. Re-packs are not different but the ones who do that will say it is. It's about the honesty and character of the individual. I have seen it done in retail stores and the return policy of the store is what allows it to happen. I would not say it's stealing, but I feel it's not right. Just price match the thing so everyone thinks it's on the up and up. I would not do it, but I see no harm in it since you are basically getting a figure either way and both stores will sell it no matter what. As my mother would "to each his or her own."

This is such an impractical thread. Im pretty sure you could have decided this by your self. Of course not!

Whoa guys, no need for the negative. I asked what you guys thought of the idea. I have not done this yet. I was on the fence about doing it, so i decided to ask the rest of the board what you thought. Seems like most of you say its frowned apon. So, i will keep it to have moc and use as trade bait down the road. You could return it or sell on eBay then buy another elite on eBay

Don't you need a receipt to bring it back to walmart? I was bakery manager at Walmart and one time they let a couple bring back a half eaten burthday cake cause they said it tasted funny...I was like then why is most of it gone Same thing happened at a grocery store I worked at. I also worked in the bakery and we had to return money to the customer with only one slice of cake left. That was all they returned.

Definitely not okay. You're scamming Walmart and stealing 11 bucks from them. I don't care that it's a major corporation. Stealing is stealing. It's not okay. It bothers me that you even have to ask this, but since you're asking it, you realize it's wrong, too.
How would you like it if someone did that to you? Why don't people understand the golden rule? Why is it such a foreign concept?
Besides, I doubt Walmart would accept it without a receipt. And they shouldn't. Because of stuff like this.

No, this is not ok to do. This is fraud and theft. You are intentionally returning product to a store that it was not purchased from for the sole purpose of returning it to take money that was not originally yours as part of the purchase (theft). I would recommend NOT doing this, and I would also recommend not making posts about schemes like this, because you'll probably end up getting banned. I get what you are saying, but it is essentially a price match if you think about it. I wouldnt be doing it to gain cash. Id be doing it only to get a different figure i dont currently own. So you bought a figure that you already own at a cheaper price and want to return it to Walmart, a store you did not buy it from. This implies that you bought it with the sole purpose of returning it to a different store for something else. That's F-ed up. Fraud is fraud and dishonesty is dishonesty. I don't know about you, but my parents raised me better than that and would be disappointed if I did something like this. The other day I was at Target returning some printer ink. "Why are you returning it?" "It doesn't work. It doesn't work because I bought the wrong one." They appreciated my honesty. Stop trying to get one over on people. As someone who worked in retail in the past, most of us grew tired of people always lying to us and trying to get one over.

I don't see an issue with it at all. WM is getting a figure that they can sell for $21 and he's getting a $21 gift card to spend in their store.
Wal Mart doesn't care if he's returning "character A" for "character B". It's all the same bottom line for them.

I think it is good for theworm, bad to indifferent to the store, and bad for another collector who perhaps had the money to buy the figure at the walmart price.

I'm afraid so. You'll be going to the special place in hell for people who do this....a never ending pit full of sharp metal figure boxes

It is fraud. Without placing any condemnation it is textbook fraud. That is a definite. Is it okay to do? That's for you to figure out.
