No offence to Shawn Michaels but Goldust would've been a better drawing champion lol. I don't know what was wrong but Shawn Michaels couldn't draw to save his life.

I don't know what was wrong but Shawn Michaels couldn't draw to save his life. 1) roster of mostly midcarders to work with. 2) brash, brazen, grating attitude turned a lot of people off 3) that attitude better suited for a heel, than a babyface. the whole Jose Lothario think just stunk of fan pandering. even worse when, years later, it was revealed he hated Lothario at the time and was always berating and cursing him backstage.

Doesn't really make it any less true. What an awful period of wrestling that was.

I've always wondered if fans knew about Shawn Michaels's rotten attitude backstage at the time? Back then there was no dirtsheets or forums so did fans know how much pf a nasty piece of work he was.

What I don't understand about HBK not wanting to work with Goldust is why did he work with him on house shows and dark matches then??
The only thing I could think of is maybe HBK was scared that Vince may want to have Goldust be a heel WWE Champion at the time, and HBK didn't wanna work him in case of that. If they did a TV program with matches, angles and such on Raw, leading up to a PPV, if Goldust got even more over, Vince may have opted to do a title change on HBK and have Goldust go over.
I know HBK vs. Goldust happened in Toronto in August in a ladder match for the WWE Title. There is a fan cam version of it out there on dailymotion, because I've seen it before.

Apparently fine with dark matches/house shows but spat fire when it was suggested he would be a fine opponent for PPV/tv program

I totally forgot and it's so weird that I forgot because it's on the Raw 20th Box Set DVD and I own that. Raw from 1996, Shawn Michaels vs. Goldust for the WWE Title. So he did work him once on TV at least.
