So to all Scotsmen on here. I've mulled over this for a long time but for various reasons I've got sick to death of England and I'm mega bored of the stagnant North East I've found a job and I'm moving up on Sunday. I will be based in Stirling with the long term aim of being in Glasgow. Anything in terms of advice, places to drink/socialise/meet new people? I have a couple of friends up there but I'm determined to make this work, now I'm entering the 'real world' and fending for myself. Any advice you's can share to raise my street wisdom and awareness? Thanks I'm advance.

Im in Dundee/Forfar (about 2 hours North-East); I do know a good bit about Glasgow though; Stirling is only half an hour maybe away from GG, so its not hard to get there, and really its a great place to meet folks and a great place to do 'stuff' (shopping, cinemas, the usual).
As far as I know about Stirling its kinda a historic/student place, not sure what its like in terms of liveliness. But even Edinburgh isn't TOO far away, maybe an hour at very most, and in the last year I'd probably say I prefer Edinburgh to Glasgow, alot cleaner and classier of a place - but which ever there are a number of pubs/clubs, venues for music, sports of all likes and pretty much anything you'd need or want in a space of an hours travel.

I'm from Edinburgh and there is a crap load to do up this way. Loads of bars/clubs like Psychotic said, as well as plenty shopping stuff.
Can't say much for Glasgow, but from what I've heard it's a decent night out as well!

I live about 15 minutes away from Stirling. It's a good enough place, easy to get to Glasgow/Edinburgh for a day out. One of the local nightclubs Dusk is good on a Tuesday night. The town centre itself is decent, HMV and game stores still open.
Any questions just ask and I'll try and help.

I would try and aim to live in Edinburgh rather than Glasgow. Yes Glasgow is a better night out, but overall standard of living is far superior. Edinburgh is locus of the country.
Some say Edinburgh and Glasgow is tale of two women. Edinburgh is far better looking, and can be a bit up its own arse. Where as Glasgow is an ugly industrial town with a motorway right through it. But it does have a cracking personality.

Enjoy it mate, I grew up in Fife and while I have not lived in Scotland for 13 years now as when I went to University I stayed in England I do miss it from time to time and enjoy going to visit my folks and friends a couple of times per year. I have been to Stirling many times and always had a nice day out. To be honest Glasgow is one of the last places in the UK I would want to live, I mean no disrespect in this and I say it as a life long Glasgow Rangers fan as well. But I have never had more trouble any where I have been than Glasgow. Good luck with the move

Bit late but hopefully everything went to plan with the move! I live in Glasgow and there is so much to do. If you've ever any questions on places to go, things to do, etc. then feel free to drop me a PM!

Hey guys sorry about the late response. Rarely post these days due to lack of free time. Everything is going well so far at the risk of cursing myself from now on! Been a very educational experience so far just entering the unknown and having the guts to make such a bold move. Getting to gradually know everything around me. Already been to Fubar and Dusk in Stirling and it was full of weans Fleeing back and forth between here and Newcastle whenever I get a weekend off work and I'm liking it so far

Ha ha. I hear fubar has been done up recently but I haven't been near it in ages At least you have a well stocked smyths close by. From all the ones I've been in I'd say Falkirk has been the best stocked with WWE stuff
