(Two bottom moc figures are only there till they sell, even earthquake didn't make the final cut believe it or not) I don't know if anyone remembers my last collection picture update thread, I think I had somewhere around 120 figures, 10-12 were moc. I'm currently down to 19 in total and still plan on selling a few , it's funny how I went from figure fanatic, breathing and living this hobby to over it almost overnight This isn't a done collecting, bye guys thread, I'm still gonna hang out and check out the latest but aside from a really cool macho man figure or maybe giant Gonzalez, I'm done collecting, I'm done making customs, I'm pretty well over this hobby. And the weird thing is, I feel free. I'm not knocking anyone or knocking Mattel, I'm just saying, for some reason I felt compelled to keep up with the collection. I couldn't pass on figures because I didn't want to suffer the re sale prices later, I had to collect everyone and doubles of the ones I liked. It started feeling like a chore or another bill to pay. Plus I was pretty bored with everything else and the nostalgia was pretty dope. Also I was always on this website when I know there's far more productive things that I should be doing (again not knocking anyone, just me) Anyways, just wanted to say thanks to everyone here who made the hobby so fun and all the people in the fix up thread, I'm making some big changes in my life so if I'm not around as much then this is why , but seriously best of luck to everybody here and thanks Apocalypses photobucket s712.photobucket.com/user/rjhales/library/mattel?sort=3&page=1

Sorry to hear that. I know what you mean I feel obliged to buy sets because of the re sale prices and because money burns a whole in my pocket. I understand what you mean by being free. Good luck with selling your remaining figures. Enjoy freedom lol Nice dog BTW.

How could Earthquake not make the cut? I just don't know what to believe anymore. I try every couple months or so to do that same thing, but I haven't been able to pull the trigger.

I've been wanting to sell mine, but I don't want to deal with the hassle.

I hate to see you sell your collection! Always enjoyed seeing your customs.

Honestly, a small display can look a lot better than a cluttered one any day of the week. I only have one bookshelf that I rotate collections on. My far less cluttered Marvel Legends collection is up right now and it looks better. If I put wrasslers up again, it will not be one of everyone like I did last time. That ended up being over 100 figures competing for light.

I kinda see where your coming from when you say your free. Because sometimes I feel compelled to buy a figure just incase it becomes "rare" or worth more in the future. And keeping up with all of the figs is a hassle.
Good luck with your future life.

Thanks everyone, I totally felt like I was on crack for even thinking of selling my collection, it wasn't the hogan thing although that was another kick in the right direction for me. One day, about a week before sdcc (crazy right, before we see what's coming out) I was looking at my crowded collection and I thought, what if I sold a few, then that thought led to, what if I sold a bunch, then what if I sold them all.... Then I got scared and went back to what if I sold a few lol
I took 20 out of the display and felt fine, so I listed them. Then sitting there I took another 20 out and still, I felt fine, maybe even better. Kind of like I could breathe again. And so on and so on. Like honestly, I love this hobby but it consumes me. I'm getting back into life right now, I spent a lot of time indoors the last 5 years when not working, raising my baby girls, and this hobby was some excitement for me and it was comforting but I took it too far and neglected a lot of things that should have been important to me. Partly spending too much time at home with the kids too.
Latly I've been getting back into fishing, exercising again, yoga, my tattoos... ( some people have sleeves, I have a turtle neck of tattoos) and there's so much more I want to do, I have to update my clothes, they all turned into work clothes and I'm a carpenter so that means dirty and stains and ripped, I want to buy another acoustic guitar after selling 6 of them in the last 5 years. I'm 33 and I love this hobby but I've never felt more free by selling material items. It's unreal.
Honestly guys, I wish you all the best and if you ever feel like the figures are taking up too much of your time then lay back a little and enjoy the freedom as well.
Edit, also, I hope I'm remembered as the guy who, when everyone was making hulk hogan customs , I was making Brooklyn brawler, Damien demento, bastion booger, gillberg, battle Kat, the genius, and any other jobber I can think of, I still have pictures in my photobucket. Lucky for me someone always bought them on ebay.

Congrats. U hv grown up and moved on. Addiction is never easy to quit. But when u can realise that its consuming ur life in unhealthy magnitudes then its better to make a bold move and do something about it. To really kick the habit, i would suggest not even coming here. That would be a test of your determination. To curb an addiction, u may hv to start another healthy addiction to keep u occupied like a sport or a goal. Whatever that may be ... i wish u good luck.

Really surprised Earthquake didn't make the cut. I've been collecting since LJN days so i think I'll be addicted for ever!

If you're getting tired of it, and it's becoming a chore it's time to quit. You've made a good decision if it's making you happy.

Congrats on the decision man. You've always been one of my favorite members on here. People like you and Axe got me into customizing and although I'm far from great at it, it's a very therapeutic hobby for me. Your work will forever be in the custom figure Hall of Fame and I'm excited to know that I have a few of the proudly displayed within my own collection. I hope you'll keep popping in from time to time. Thanks for the Fix up thread and for all the custom advice my friend.

I can completely relate to everything you said. However, I still can't see myself giving up this hobby. i spend way too much time and effort doing everything else in my life to not be able to allow myself to waste money here and there on something I enjoy. If I was in a position where I could no longer afford it or it interfered with my personal goals than I could see throwing in the towel. Luckily I'm doing pretty well for myself and meet all my life's top priorities just fine. Just hope you don't end up regretting selling everything. Personally I would just throw my stuff in storage and stay offline and out of the toy aisle. Out of sight, out of mind brotha.

I felt the same way last summer, so I sold off 99% of my collection about 125 Elites. I managed to hold onto Elite 16 Punk, Elite 16 Nash/Diesel, Macho King and Elite 17 Mankind.
After a few months I felt extreme sellers remorse, yet instead of attempting to rebuy and collect again I listed my remaining figures on eBay.
Now I still have quite a bit of sellers remorse, yet when I think to myself "oh just start up another collection" I turn to eBay and see the inflated prices for all the elites I've sold and I just can't do it...
