Kirby Smart is going to be named Georgia coach, which is a hire I like. I still think they should've kept Richt at least another season but maybe Smart is the guy to lift them up to an SEC title.

Anyone notice how an 8-4 Tennessee team (who has literally been in the lead in the 4th quarter of every loss) just barely squeaked into the Top 25 yet USC who has been beaten by at least 10 points in all their losses jumped all the way to 20th. Makes me wonder if the committee is trying to cover their tails in case UNC wins & Stanford wins. Beating #20 team looks pretty good for Stanford compared to an unranked team. I didn't think either team (Tennessee or USC) should've been ranked. I would've went with Memphis and Wisconsin but really the bottom 5 of the Top 25 doesn't mean too much, especially right now. But beating #20 certainly looks better than beating an unranked 8-4 USC team the entire world has forgotten about.

I guess Kirby Smart is pretty much official as expected.
If Muschamp doesn't get the S. Carolina HC job, he is possibly the DC. A question if UGA is willing to pay him.
If not, we retain Pruitt which is what most want, but he has been vocal about his displeasure with the AD.
Richt still has a job at the school if he wants it. Possibly even as AD because McGarrity is on thin ice and needs to go.
As stated earlier, the Smart deal was done weeks ago above the head of the AD. Smart expects complete control and support something Richt didn't have. The AD refused to buy Golf carts last yr for recruiting visits

D.J. Durkin (Michigan's DC this year) was hired as Maryland's Head Coach today essentially. Don't know much about him, he was an assistant defensive coach/defensive coordinator at Florida from 10-14 and had just the 1 year at Michigan with Harbaugh.

Sounds like Mark Richt is officially the guy in Miami and he'll be bringing his 145-51 record to the U. I like the hire a lot, he seems like a guy who could at least somewhat resurrect the feeling that the U had in the 80's and 90's. With Miami and Va Tech hiring new guys and Virginia looking to make a splash the ACC could improve a lot this offseason.

Scott Shafer (Former Syracuse HC & Stanford DC), Andy Buh (Former Stanford Co-DC) and possibly Vic Fangio, if you can pull him from the NFL will likely be Durkin's replacement. Harbaugh likes to keep "his guys". Hence his Michigan staff was mostly guys from his former coaching stops. Those I would imagine be the likeliest candidates. I had assumed Richt, if he wanted to coach again, was a lock for the Miami job. They wanted a "name" and he not only has a name but also has ties to Florida & Georgia so it was really a no brainer.

Wouldn't mind Shafer. He was DC under Rich Rod for the disastrous 2008 season. To be fair, that wasn't entirely his fault and the Harbaugh connection makes me okay with that hiring. Don't know much about Buh, but grabbing Fangio would be incredible.

I bet Fangio's defensive would be successful in college. He only had the 1 year at Stanford before joining Jim in San Francisco and other than that 1 year he's been an NFL guy. If Jim can get him, all power to him.

I feel terrible for James Connor. The guy's having the absolute worst year of his life. He's such a nice guy having met him a handful of times, I feel terrible.

Wow, Virginia hired Bronco Mendenhall as their new coach. I had no idea his name was even available for the schools looking for a coach. He's been pretty successful at BYU, he's made a bowl game in every season he's been there since 2005. The ACC should be a lot more interesting next year.

Dabo Swinney makes me giggle. He said that the ACC champion should absolutely be in the CFP. His reasoning, "The 3rd best team beat the SEC East Champions"...Yet he fails to mention that the 2nd (possibly 1st) best team also lost to the WORSE team in the SEC.

Texas drops Baylor....Oklahoma is already in apparently so it shouldnt hurt or help OU. Funny to see how far Baylor dropped once they had to go to their backup Quarterback(s)

Houston wins the AAC title, making them a lock to play in the Peach Bowl (against FSU most likely).

I mean he's the backup for a really good team/QB...I don't understand the massive issue.

Their 3rd string was, eh...Their 4th string (I think was a WR) was awful and of course the last play of the game they did a number lottery to find someone to throw the ball 60yds. Baylor basically went from "we should play for a national championship" to "we cant beat a 5 win football team". Teams like TCU, Baylor, Oregon etc they're essentially "plug & play" at QB year after year so you wouldnt think there would be that much of a drop but oh well. As long as they're not in the Sugar Bowl Im good.

I was just blown away when the announcers were saying Baylor was playing for a Sugar Bowl birth...Like how the hell can the 4th team in the Big12 go to the Sugar Bowl? 4th team in the Big12 should be going to the Texas Bowl or something.

The Texas Bowl....I hate that there's 40 freakin bowl games. There's no need for the Royal Purple Bowl, the Boca Raton Bowl, the Foster Farms Bowl, the Quick Lane Bowl, and so on.
