Just looking for opinions and or seeing if any of you have been in the same position...
I started collecting about 18 months ago, and my collection has grown at a rapid rate. Several times it's outgrown my display area, so I expanded my area. I've reached a point now at over 100 figures where I have to start letting a few of my guys go because I literally have no other means of expanding.
How do you go about it? What's your process? I've picked out 10 or so figures ready to put on eBay, and I'm looking at some of them and thinking, do I really want to let them go? Like I have Elite 27 and 36 Bray Wyatt, so I've put the Kane BAF Elite in the pile. I just took pictures of it and I'm thinking wow, this is a really great figure, why am I selling it?
Just curious as to what other people have done, hoping some outside opinions can help me make my mind up!
Cheers lads (and ladies!)

I'm in the same boat. For years I would put the figures that didn't fit the shelf into a box. It wasn't so bad at first. I got one full box in my closet. Then two. Now I have 12 or 13 boxes and my wife mad at me and a sense of "My God, what happened?". Even letting one or two figures slip could be a bad idea. Know your limits. And if those limits say keep it, then keep it. But be careful. From someone who had to purge, if you don't maintain at the small level, you're gonna have some crazy work ahead of you on a big level one day.

Yeah definitely, I need to pace myself and develop a certain amount of control. The main problem is I often look at figures and think "Okay, I kind of want this, I better get it because I won't be able to in a months time". and before you know it you've got 9 Triple H's and you're not entirely sure why or how

You started 18 months ago and you have 100? Now you need to sell some to buy more? That would bother me. I'm so strict with myself about this hobby. I started 23 months ago and I have about 30 loose and 30 moc. My ultimate goal is 100 figures by around the time mattels contract runs out.
List them on eBay, usually you can sell them for the same if not more than you paid.

I would love a nice, small, compact collection I've had some success on eBay so I'll definitely put anything I'm getting rid of on there

If you're unsure about letting something go, there's a little trick that works for me... Whatever it is, take it or them off display and put them in a box. Seal that box up and stash it in the back of your closet or somewhere out of the way that you won't see it all the time. Now just wait a few months and see if you miss whatever it is you packed up. If you don't miss it or don't even remember what's in the box, get rid of it because obviously it wasn't as important as you thought. I was kind of in the same boat as you. Started collecting and pretty well exploded in a short time. Got to be too much for me and I didn't have the space to display them properly, so I decided to reign in the collection (I kept only legends, retired/semi-retired, and deceased wrestlers). Did the 'stash 'em in a box in the closet' thing and realized I didn't miss most of the figures. Turned out I was a lot happier having a small collection of only the guys that were most important to me. You might also try to concentrate on just your favorites. Make a list of your all time top 50 wrestlers and collect those. Otherwise you could just buy a bigger shelf.

I often get cold feet at the last minute as I'm packing stuff away, but I've never once regretted selling a figure in the long term

I'm keeping the lot!!
Only selling Dupes.
I sold a few bits on here, but not much joy. On Ebay, in demand things have been getting snapped up sharpish.
Part of me wants to say, "Buy a bigger house" but that is excessive.

Storage tubs and an empty corner, it works for me! Would be good, I have no empty corners though, they're all dominated by piles of tshirts, CD's, records and other things I'm a professional hoarder you see

And shallow under bed tubs for loose figures. I'm up to about 4000 litres!!! FML The conservatory has overflown!! I've had to resort to selling a few larger items that I know I will never display, and I'm have a custom display case built. 3M H 0.7 D and 2M High which is going to act as a shield to the rest! Once I have that looking the part, I'm going to start selling some MOC figures I think, for the same reason. I can't keep buying more, with no room!! The He man will have to make way or something!!

Same here. I sometimes get that slight twang of pain in the ole ticker when packing something up that I've just sold. But, I've never actually come to regret getting rid of anything, especially not when I've packed it away out of sight for a while. Heck often times I've come to find myself happy that I could get a little money back out of it and find it a new home with someone who wanted whatever it was more than I did.
I used to collect everything in a given area. I just wanted it all. A massive collection to be envious of and whatnot. Took a while and being forced to sell some things for financial reasons, but now I prefer smaller, more concentrated collections and truly do feel like I enjoy what I do have more than when I had a ton.

I don't have anywhere to display mine. I keep them in storage drawers. No way I could part with any of them!

I recently sold a huge amount of mattels off and it was the best thing i did, I'm down to 32 and so much happier with a smaller display, (i actually don't like large displays and tend to skip looking at them on here) i know between now and xmas there is only 3 figures i really want and will skip everything else.

I've now started taking a lot of mine out of the boxes because they are taking up so much space in our apt. We're moving to a house but it'll be too late because most of them will be open by then but I guess that's a good reason to open them instead of looking at them in boxes...

I know the feeling. My lady made me move all of my wrestling figures out of the living room and into my gym/weight room. I currently have about 130 figures and am getting close to running out of shelf space. But lucky for me, I have a free storage room at work which currently has about 10-12 boxes of Just action figures. So yeah I'll have to figure out what's displayed but, as long as I keep my job, will pretty much always have a place to store what's not displayed. Good luck on figuring it out brother.

See a comment like that makes me glad I don't live with my girlfriend or have a wife. If the day comes where a girl tells me where I can put my collectibles will be the day I show her where the door is. But to each their own I suppose.

Damn, should I feel bad then because I've probably bought over 300 since Easter of last year, so almost a year and a half??!!
