Watching Cena/Rollins last night I couldnt help but think of Cena/Punk. Rollins clicks with Cena just like Punk did. And their similarities are pretty impressive too.
Rollins and Punk both make great baby faces. Even as heels, they make the crowd pop but are good enough at what they do to be booed. Put you on an emotional roller coaster ride when they are in big match situations. These are just a few of standouts to me, there are easily more.
Punk was better on the mic but Rollins is way more crisp in the ring.
It definitely seems the void CM Punk left when we quit has been filled by Rollins. Truly is next man up. Too bad nobody seems to be replacing Daniel Bryan at the moment.

I love D-Bry, but I feel his time has come and gone. His body is proof that he'll probably never be able to handle anything major again. I honestly hope he comes back in a few years in a Shawn Michaels like role. Just killing it in the ring, and being a part timer.
As for Rollins, it's pretty obvious that Trips is in love with the guy, which is great. However..I never get the sense that WWE wanted to get behind Punk. I know this'll come across as "typical smark thinking he knows the biz", but....I dunno. I just never got the feeling he was ever truly gotten behind. Especially with how the Summer of Punk was handled....eh.
But yeah, Rollins is amazing.
I wouldn't count out Reigns yet. I don't know about anywhere else, but Texas loves him.

I wouldn't be too shocked if they had Seth Rollins hold the WWE Title longer than CM Punk did - just so they could say Seth held the WWE Title the longest in this era, and not CM Punk.
But I suppose there are similarities. But I think Seth is more of an Edge type character. Will do anything to hold onto the WWE Title, and is pretty scummy in doing so.

Rollins and the rest of NXT are absolutely hanging on to those who miss Punk. He's a breath of fresh air after the period of staleness.

I was a huge punk Mark, I'm an even bigger Seth Mark. Seth blows away punk in almost every category except the mic. Rollins is far more crisp in the ring, and punk was great but still Rollins is crisp as hell. Even if he misteps, he recovers right away. Also, I think Seth makes the better heel because of the little things he does. The guy changes his voice to purposely be aggravating and you all buy into it thinking that's his real voice. He's just a step ahead of almost everyone. I'm pissed they had him drop the U.S. Title. What was the point of winning it? I don't think Seth will ever let me down like punk did either

You're not wrong for thinking WWE never wanted to get behind Punk. They main evented a PPV with John Cena vs. John Laurinaitis instead of putting Punk's match on last when he was champion for christ sake.

In a lot of ways I've felt that Rollins is Punk light. And that probably sounds a little more dismissive than how I mean it, but in a lot of ways I feel his mic work has been in a style that emulates Punk.. its just not quite as good, but Seth is no slouch. As a worker I find that Seth is more exciting and visually compelling, but so far he hasn't shown me the same ability to tell a story as well as Punk could.

I always hear people compare Rollins to Hardy but I see more Punk than Hardy in him. I get the Edge comparisons too. They're def trying to make him beat Punks reign

The biggest difference, to me, is the fact that WWE actually seems like they're behind Rollins. Which is great, because right now, he's the only viable successor to Cena.

I hear Punk in Seth's voice. He does to a point fill the void of Punk for me.

I can see the similarities. When I first heard about Seth back in 2007, I heard a comparison of CM Punk fused with AJ Styles.
Anyway, Seth does click with Cena, but nowhere near the level Punk and Cena did. I think the best Seth/Cena match isn't better than the worst Punk/Cena match.

Good to see I'm not the only one who thinks Punk and Rollins are almost alike. I wouldn't be surprised if WWE had Rollins hold the title longer than Punk did.

I honestly think they're having Seth silently break Punks record just because it's Punk's.

Punk would kill Seth on the mic but I've become a massive Rollins fan solely on his wrestling

Rollins clicks with Cena like Punk did because contrary to what a lot of people want to admit, Cena is a very good worker.
Also, Bryan filled the void of Punk leaving and Rollins has filled the void for the injured Daniel Bryan so yeah I suppose in a roundabout way, Rollins has filled in for Punk.

Rollins is more athletic than Punk but I prefer watching Punk wrestle. Punk is much better on the mic too. Rollins reminds more of Jericho tbh.
