So in preparation, or maybe not so much preparation but free time and s random thought, but I'm going back and watching every one on one encounter between Brock Lesnar vs The Undertaker. Granted, I've seen them all before, but I've seen probably 70% of WWF/E ppv matches. For what it's worth, I'm a big fan of both so I thought what would be better than a couple of five guys burgers and wrestling. Now on to the content of my thoughts and findings
First and foremost, the Undertaker's dick kick on Lesnar originated in the post match chaos that ensued at Unforgiven 2002, in the Staples Centre, no less. I found this to be interesting. Undertaker was a fairly new babyface and Brock was the heel. Heyman threw Brock a chair but Undertaker ended up using it on Lesnar twice while the ref was down. The first shot being one of the most wicked I've seen. I gathered from this what I already knew, the Undertaker transcends heel/face characteristics when in the face role. Much like Flair. When full fledged heel is a different story, but Undertaker doing a dick kick is nothing compared to hanging people on at a demonic altar.
The Unfirgiven match gets a thumbs up from me. I was entertained.
The hell in a cell speaks for itself. What else can I say? Brutal, bloody, cool spots. And Undertaker putting over Brock in a huge way. That win completely solidified Brock as the man. I mean, he was basically face a month later. Bravo! Great match.
The third installment if from No Mercy 2003. Meh.. It was okay. It wasn't horrible but it certainly wasn't. I assume Taker to be hurt here already but I'm not sure. Vince screws Taker which leads to the eventual return of the demon from Death Valley by the hands of Kane. Match was meh
The rematch vignettes for these three have been cool. Brock was a beast already. Undertaker looked jacked for all three. But Brock is legit one of the few guys who you didn't believe was afraid of Taker kayfabe wise or in reality. Maybe it was just me
WrestleMania XXX
Wheeewwww... The end of the streak. Bad match. Overall bummer. There's not a whole lot left to say other than wonder what could've been if Taker hadn't had the concussion. The entrances were legit AF though
The rematch too big for WrestleMania
Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar
Summerslam 2015
This match beat my expectations. Brock interrupted Takers entrance and it was on from there. I wasn't real keen on the finish though I do understand the reasoning. It is what it is. If anything Taker should've using a chair while the ref was down or something. The bell ringing sh*t es no bueno. Taker wins. Brock passes out saying off.
Here we are a few weeks from HITC and I'm looking forward to it. If Taker is healthy like the net has been saying, it's only a good thing. I know the match doesn't appeal to everyone but me personally I am expecting a brawl for the ages. If it's the final match they'll ever have, it'll definitely be a war. Plus it's inside the cell
I'll pull a Cody Rhodes diva and ask... Thoughts?
Edit: I predict Lesnar to win in the cell. Which he should.
