New Day Dawning?
October 12, 2015
If you were anybody besides Kane, Brock Lesnar or The New Day, last Monday’s Raw was a rough outing. John Cena won, but got beat up. Same for The Dudley Boyz, while Dolph Ziggler didn’t even get to compete before he got taken out of the equation. And Summer Rae? Well, we’ll get to her. From Superstars and Divas looking strong on the road to “Hell,” to those who feel like they’re already burned, here’s what WWE.com predicts for Monday’s Raw.
Dawning of a New Day?
Anyone who had the temerity to write The New Day off as prancing goofballs — John Cena, for one — got a harsh dose of #POP to the face at the end of Raw last week. Even though Big E couldn’t beat Cena for the U.S. Title, the tremendous WWE Tag Team Champion still cleaned house alongside Xavier Woods & Kofi Kingston, obliterating The Dudley Boyz, Cena and Dolph Ziggler as Raw went dark. Safe to say their glory tour isn’t done just yet, and they won’t be so easily underestimated now.
A Hell of an Ultimatum
At long last, Seth Rollins has the opportunity to rid himself of Kane in both the corporate and demonic sense when he defends the WWE World Heavyweight Title against The Big Red Machine at Hell in a Cell. The final caveat — if Kane loses, his corporate alter-ego is canned as Director of Operations — is a make-or-break clause for The Architect, but he’s still fighting from underneath: Through backstage maneuvering and in-ring power, Kane has gotten the better of Rollins for weeks now. Can The Architect land a shot of his own as Hell in a Cell draws nearer?
The "Big" Comeback
Big Show was looking unstoppable in the two weeks leading into Live From MSG: Lesnar vs. Big Show. But since the lights went down at The World’s Most Famous Arena, the giant has been reduced to Brock Lesnar’s plaything, taking not one, but two trips to Suplex City en route to a loss at the Garden and a beating on Raw. The reigning Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal winner has some steam to regain, so who’s going to be staring down his hubcap-sized fist come Monday?
No ring on the finger, you must not linger
Summer Rae officially asked to be The Bulgarian Bride, but Rusev’s response was a little less warm and fuzzy than she probably expected. Agreeing to wed his “hot Summer” only after their partnership had yielded championship gold, The Super Athlete’s pursuit of a title has officially begun in earnest. And given that Summer clearly wants to make an honest man out of the monster, will she find a way to insert herself into Rusev’s matches going forward to expedite the process?
TMZ-caused Update!!!
As first reported by TMZ, former U.S. Champion Rusev and Lana are reportedly engaged. The Ravishing Russian had been romantically linked to Dolph Ziggler in recent months and Rusev fielded a proposal from Summer Rae just last week, but it would appear that any lingering problems between the power couple have been resolved. Why did Lana have a change of heart? Tune in to Raw live at 8/7 C on USA Network for more, and stay with WWE.com as this story develops.
Beware The Boss
All had been unusually quiet on the Sasha Banks front during Charlotte’s ascent to the top of the Divas division (well, almost all), but The Boss and her Team B.A.D. besties made a big statement by upending Team Bella on Raw. All of which puts Sasha, Naomi & Tamina back in the hunt to knock off the two-pronged remnants of PCB and make a true play for the Divas Title. Will The Boss continue her winning ways? Find out Monday when Raw goes live, 8/7 C on USA Network!
