I love hearing road stories from wrestlers, loved Legends Roundtable and all those shoot interviews. One story I never quite believed, was it true or not?
Dirty Dick Slater handing a young rookie Sting the beating of his life after he found him in a room with Dark Journey?
I've never ever read/heard/seen Sting address this in any forum. So was it true?

I feel like a lot of "road stories" are worked-shoots. Just like the height and weight of most wrestlers.
Probably stories that are partially true but exaggerated for effect.

They're probably exaggerated to an extent

I did hear something before about Sting and Dark Journey now that you mention it.
Didn't Sting end up 'sleeping' with her and she was dating Dick Slater at the time?? That's why Slater beat his ass.

I dont know anything about the Sting/Slater story but I think most of your road stories are true but might be embellished a bit for entertainment purposes. There's no doubt in my mind that Flair has ran around a bar somewhere in just his boxers but I doubt that Daryl Hannah was running around with him wanting to ride space mountain.

The Sting/Dark Journey/Dick Slater story goes like this:
This happened in Bill Watts' UWF. Journey got her break into the business by dating Dick Slater. At the time, Slater was a huge name in the UWF. They got into an argument one week & broke up. Slater kicks her out of the house they were living in. She hooks up with Sting (who was 24 at the time) & stays at his place. Slater finds out about it & flips out. He finds Sting in the locker room putting his face paint on & gives him a righteously huge ass kicking. Sting didn't even put up a fight, because of two reasons. 1- He knew he'd been caught, and 2- he was just starting out in the business & Slater had friends who would have screwed with Sting's career. It was reported that Slater humiliated Sting by giving him a "swirly". Witnesses said that after the fight, they saw Sting exit the bathroom with his eyes swollen shut, his mouth bleeding & his cheekbones bruised.
Credit for this story goes to both Missy Hyatt & Jim Cornette.

yeah grumpyoldman that's exactly the story I remember reading about years ago. It never really comes up in any threads about stories outside of the ring, so I always wondered if it was fake. Was Dark Journey a ring rat or something?

Was Dark Journey a ring rat or something? She was an exotic dancer when she first met Slater. They both loved to party, so they were perfect for each other. Slater was well liked by Watts & had a lot of pull in the UWF, so he got her a job there. This is the early stages of bringing valets into wrestling. Soon after, they brought Missy Hyatt in to feud with her. I never knew if she was a ring rat or not, but she was reportedly fond of cocaine. Once Slater left the UWF for the WWF, she worked for JCP for a little while. Once she was let go, she stayed out of the public eye & worked in a boutique in California. She does the occasional meet & greet. I would love to hear some of the stories she has to tell!

Fav story I've heard is when Heyman was on Austins podcast and said the one about the Steiner brothers.
Any story that includes Scott or Rick Steiner, you know it's gonna be insane.

I'd say it just depends on who's telling the story

All road stories are true, to a point. Remember, these stories are being told from memory by guys who were drinking, drugging, and bumping every night. So take every story you hear as the best recollection that the guy can remember.

Depends on who's telling it.
I read a crazy story involving CW Anderson, a Japanese woman, a hotel room, Steve Corino, and a lot of towels the other day.

Talking about crazy stories, I heard a shoot with Perry Saturn involving him Raven, a couple of prostitutes, a slip & slide, toys strapped to the wrestlers' heads and flooding in the hotel room - you do the math.
