So I go to tighten loose joints on my Cactus jack, with a custom cloth t shirt that I made him, and the t shirt gets stuck to the glue! I thought I had the shirt peeled back enough, but apparently not. What happened next is not for the weak at heart..... His arm joint that I was trying to tighten, was glued and frozen backwards!! The expletives were flying from my mouth, "son of a bang, son of a boom!" My GF was trying to sleep, which made par for the course. I swiftly warmed up a pot of water and threw Jack in there right away. I pulled it out after about 30 seconds, which probably only allowed the waterproof glue to harden. Of course, the arm would not budge! I boiled a second pot and was more aggressive as my adrenaline kicked in. With a yelp of "please God," it came loose, WHAT A SAVE!! Unfortunately, something else went wrong... I was trying to make a Perry Saturn custom and broke the peg off of a DZ taped fist into the arm of the figure. I ended up gluing the fist to it and taking it as a loss. Patience would have avoided all this, lesson learned. Thanks for reading.

This is why I don't customize more than the swapping heads and knee/elbow pads. That and my considerable lack of skill at it.

Swapping heads and boots are so easy, and I like sticking to those kind of fix ups. Anything involving glue and figures just sounds like a bad idea to me.

Never understood the superglue trick. I could see the super low viscosity glue from hobby shops, but super glue? Yikes!

I used the super-glue trick on my Corporate Step and Lana for the super=loose, non-weight bearing ankles, worked fine...
I do have a couple figures where there's parts glued. My Benoit has the head glued on, simply cause I could NOT get it to fit the body, and dremmeling it made him into a bobblehead. Also my Hollywood Hogan has his top half glued to the bottom at the waist, due to the waist joint breaking off during an attempted torso crack gone wrong...

Never once had to use superglue or anything that wasn't really hot water. It's really easy , I too was concerned with my lack of skill at first

I snapped nice chunk of the neck off one of my elite 7 DX Shawn Michaels last night. Hoping my crazy glue fix doesn't end this way, you have me scared to go look!

I just ended up gluing the head down and I'm okay with it. As long as you don't make stop motion videos or pose them intricately, certain parts are okay glued in my opinion.

What happened next is not for the weak at heart Are you serious? It's not like a murder, sad story or anything of the sort, you just ruined a toy. First question, am I serious? Yes I'm serious, but not in the nature of which you are taking it. The weak at heart thing was supposed to be a somewhat humorous JR tribute... and yes, correct, It was not 'like a murder or anything.'' I think most of us understand that. Sad story? I'm just going to stop right there. No need to keep going on. If you aren't entertained, I don't know what to tell you.... I posted something that I felt most of the boys could relate to. I apologize... wait, I don't! Have a good day!!

This is why I don't ever attempt to part swap or customize.

Only superglued once and that was on my SDCC Undertaker because it couldn't stand properly. I superglued by the ankle and thank god it worked perfectly.

I thought this was going to be about matters glue quality on torsos. Anyways, I know what it's like to screw up a figure. You just want to slam the thing after it gets ed up.
