So I found out there would be a screening for "The Resurrection of Jake the Snake" in Nashville. Nashville is 3 hours from me. I'd heard rave reviews about it, it was the only screening coming close to me, and most of all Jake and Scott Hall are probably two of my top 5 or 6 favorite wrestlers of all time. I was so excited to meet them and get an autograph!
So I bought tickets, booked a hotel, took a day off work, bought a few paint pens (Thanks members for your help with that), and me and my wife took the trip to Nashville. I had an old Hasbro jake the Snake bag for jake to sign, a nwo logo for scott, and a E36 fig for ddp to sign.
There were two showings, one at 7 and one at 1015. Because of travel we booked the 1015 showing. Earlier in the week I got a Tweet from ddp himself that there would be q and a and autograph signings after both shows, just to be sure. Great!
Well the first disappointment came when I noticed on the movie website that jake's name had been removed from the screening, and Scott was now listed as "tentative." I thought that sucked to have the listing changed the day of or before the event, but I held out hope they would all be there. I resigned myself by the time we got there that even if only dpp showed up it would be a cool night.
We get to the theater, people are still filing out from the 700 show because the staff said the q and a went a little long and they'd have the theater cleaned in a bit. We then get in the theater, and it's only myself, my wife, and two other guys at the showing. I was surprised, but thought this might turn out really cool if it's only four of us who get to chat with ddp and hopefully Scott!
Movie was good. The lights come up, and we wait a bit not sure what to expect next. Was ddp gonna come out? We walked to the lobby and it's totally empty. I find a staff member and asked about the autograph and q and a session. He tells me they only did one at the 700 showing! You've got to be kidding me! Ddp told me himself there would be one after both showings, but apparently not!
So I'm left with a hotel bill, gas expenses, and a 3 hour trip home for nothing. Very frustrating and disappointing. I don't know if I'll ever get a chance to meet those guys again.
