Last night I attended my first Live WWE show in a fair few years. I went through a stage between 2008-2012 where I lost interest in wrestling and it's taken nearly three yers of watching again to get to a live show. I noticed last night the WWE are off the ball with talent. Here's the main things I noticed.
1. Sheamus vs Finn Balor - Wow. Match of the night. The fans were really into it. It was probably the longest match of the night and by far the most entertaining. A really back and fourth match with a lot of unpredicatability. Why don't the WWE push new fueds like this on RAW or Smackdown? It was great to see something so good and so fresh.
2. Finn Balor - This guy is so over at the moment and I never realised it. I knew he was popular but I didn't realise to what extent. I swear more fans were wearing Balor merch than any other superstar with the excepion of Cena. I would say fans wearing Rollins shirts were third, closely followed by Ambrose and Owens. Roman Reigns really didn't seem very popular which surprised me with the push he seems to be getting. I understand this will be different at each event but the WWE seem to be missing what the fans actually want, which brings me onto Bigshow vs Kane...
3. Big Show vs Kane - Yawn. This has been done so many times and I understand Show is stepping in for Rollins but couldn't the WWE mix things up a bit better? The fans really weren't in to the match but it was shoved down our throats as a big attration. Perfect time to grab a beer however.
4. Kevin Owens vs Dean Ambrose - A really good match, I'm not sure if it was a fun as I remember it as I was on my 8th pint by this time. Owens and Ambrose should both be in the world title picture. Dean seems to be loved by everyone and Owens is a brilliant old school heel. He was getting some real heat last night, especially when he got DQ'ed. Now I am not usually a fan of DQ finishes unless they are done right and Owens did it right. Started a good beat down on Ambrose with a chair. Then Zigglers music hit and Dolph comes running out to save Ambrose. The New Day then come to ring to help Owens. There is a brawl in the ring and the show finished with the Dudleys getting involved.
That's only my main observations, Cesaro was massively over with the crowd and got one of the biggest reactions of the night yet the WWE don't seem to be using him right.
It is such a shame the WWE has no competition now because I really feel they don't care what the fans want. It was really nice to go to a show where things were different and I think it is embarrasing that a house show with only 1/3rd of the roster was better than the majority of live shows the WWE put on at the moment.
