Most, if not all, guns these days are semi auto. Not sure what your point is. Isn't it fairly easy to convert many semi auto guns into full automatic? No.

when you can be on the no fly list, yet buy a gun...i think its time to upgrade the laws.
Its a shame that we have no idea how to prevent this type of situation.

I like how a thread standing up for Kevin Owens obesity generates 10x the discussion as this.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say the majority of street shootings do not occur with legalized weaponry. Thus banning weapons will have literally zero effect. Let everyone have the option of protecting themselves in public, and these things won't happen. Ever. We will have an influx of crimes of passion though.

If people want guns for hunting or protection, that's their right. HOWEVER...a line needs to be drawn on what types of guns people should realistically be able to purchase and own. If I'm a hunter....it should be limited to single shot rifles. If I'm getting a gun for home protection or personal protection, it should limited to handguns. I don't think there is any realistic reason why any private citizen should have a need to own these machine guns. The more powerful the gun, the more ability it has to be used in a mass shooting. They should also track/limit how many rounds people buy in a year....if you have a cache of 6000+ rounds of ammo, like these people did, then you're probably up to something. Handguns and low grade weapons are RARELY used in these mass shootings because they just aren't powerful enough or able to hold as many rounds....it's always these lunatics with machine guns. Semi-auto firearms are NOT machine guns. 6000 rounds is not a lot if you shoot a lot. I've shot well over 8K rounds this year alone. Branding people as "hunter" or "Self defense" and only allowing them to buy certain guns would be "infringement" FBI crime stats from 2014 showed that rifles (including shotguns, "assault rifles" and all other rifles) made up only 3 or 4% of total firearm related homicides.

I know you guys mean well, but more gun laws are not the answer. They have no effect on the criminal(especially ones on suicide missions), and will only make us more vulnerable. Americans are not victims, we are not targets, we fight back. Our government can't keep drugs off the street, or even out of prisons, but you think they can make guns go away? Like France did...
Please understand it is your right and responsibility to protect yourself and your family. The cops won't be there in time, it's up to you.
