I never ever used to notice paint issues. Now, I find it hard to find a figure that doesn't have one. Even the belts with Razor and Yoko were significantly worse than previous releases. The Basic 56 Warriors I just got in the post have completely different facepaint around the nose bridge. Also, this is a Mattel DISCUSSION board. not a Mattel verbal blowie board. I know what you mean, but, I must have been lucky with my 2 Warriors I ordered, paint is great. I've seen some shocking paint in stores.

This happened to my E33 Batista, but I got the broken piece of the hand out of the arm with a very small screwdriver, and the glued the pieces back together and then put it back in the arm and it was fine and it's been fine since.

My usual issue is either paint smudge or no paint after all. When you're buying online internationally it sucks!

People need to stop complaining about Mattel here. What he said! Don't like it than don't buy it. Pretty simple actually... Really? Obviously he liked it enough to warrant spending over $20 on it. I personally like apples, I wouldn't like it if when I bite in to said apple it was rotten.

I haven't had a QC issue since the first DM Macho I purchased had a fused right hip. It sucks that it happened to you, but I do believe they have one of the best QC dept. Hell in all the lines I have purchased from Mattel I can think of 5-6 figures that had QC issues. I collect their main WWE lines (Legends, basic, Elite, EG, dm, Rumblers) all their DC lines (6" Batman, DCSH, DCUC, Movie Masters, JL/JLU, Animated Batman, the Batman, Batman Unlimited, DC Unlimited, DCIH, Batman trilogy and Superman Returns movie lines, Young Justice, etc) and of those lines the only QC issues I have encountered are... Two B2 Kozlov had a fused right hip. One DM1 Macho had a fused hip. A DM4 Austin hip snapped off when he fell onto a concrete floor (more my fault) One DCSH Steel figure had a fused bicep. Three GL Movie Masters Hal Jordan figures had fused hips. I didn't even leave TRU CS until we found one that was correct.
So 8 figures out of a few thousand isn't bad at all. Hell, Neca just sent out a Christopher Reeve Superman, West Batman and Ledger Joker figures where I am reading at the fwoosh how more than half seem to be breaking out of package. Luckily mine have all been fine so far. But as far as massed produced toys go I would put Mattel's QC up against any other companies. Again it does suck that it happened, but at least they offer vouchers. I don't know how many DCD/DCC figures broke on me out of package or from just holding their own weight on the shelf. And for years they never offered any replacements or vouchers.

I don't understand how mattel can paint such intricate details on tattoos and tights, but can't put two pupils in the right place of an eyeball to save their life!

One of the reasons I hate buying online now is because of the poor QC. Paying 20$ I want pretty good paint and nice looking figure. I just got E38 and my macho man had a very loose torso right out of the box. Finding a good Four Horsemen set with no paint smudges was almost impossible also. I love the figures Mattel puts out but I shouldn't have to stand in an aisle comparing figures next to each other to get the best one.

Paint application seems to be the big QC issue I see. Luckily I don't have many with bad paint jobs but my APAs shirts both have smudges. I have seen loads of figures at retail I have passed with bad paint smudges and missing paint. This is bad QC. When you buy a product you shouldnt have to open it and start touch the paint up. In the UK elites are £18. For £18 I could buy something like a coffee table. If the coffee table had bad paint application or smudges I would be returning it. It seems like too many people just accept it and give the "Mattel can't do anything wrong, it's only a smudge" excuse. I think people have the right to speak out especially with the cost of these things. I never saw as many QC issues with Jakks and they retailed at £7 in the uk. That's less than half the price.

I love the Mattel product, and I'll never criticize the work that Bill does BUT BUT BUT At an event this year, Bill said that their "quality control was up with the best in the world" He also said something along the lines of "you're paying a maximum of $20 for a figure, what do you expect?" Two things. If Bill can honestly say that the quality control is okay, then I refuse to believe he see's his product in bulk. If the quality control is just fine, then why did I spend 10 minutes at my local store last night trying to find a Hideo Itami figure that actually had his shorts painted in acceptable fashion? Secondly, it's insulting to be told we shouldn't expect better just because we're spending £X or $X I paid £54 for three Elites the other day. There were problems with two of them People can say "well don't buy the product". That's something I'm on the brink of Like I say Bill, if you happen to be watching, I appreciate the hell out of what you do and the job you do is incredible, but there are people working for you that are making your product look inferior Thank you, I was waiting for someone to say this so I wouldn't have to (because I was put in the naughty list before) but this exactly, well said my friend. And for those who say "then don't buy them"... News flash, they're the only current wwe figures AVAILABLE to us, and as COLLECTORS we have no choice but to buy what's currently available to us

I have never purchased a figure with a bad face or a figure with missing or smudged logos which is what I would consider a paint issue. A small mark/scuff on a mass produced product isn't a paint QC issue especially when 90% of the time it washes away without any effort.

It happens just breathe...Amazon is crap for shipping could have been lose and was ready to break..not Mattel's fault... This had nothing to do with Amazon. This figure was clearly damaged in the box. It wouldn't have mattered if Amazon wrapped the goddamn thing in bubble wrap and shipped it in a steel case, it was still damaged.

People need to stop complaining about Mattel here. What he said! Don't like it than don't buy it. Pretty simple actually... Did you even read his post? He clearly had no idea when he purchased it that the hand was going to break off. I've experienced a number of stiff figures, which are mostly Elites, and I'm always afraid to move their arms or legs because they might break off. The paint issue has become a lot worse as well. When I first started collecting Mattel (which was when The Shield and Wyatt Family got their first Elite figures) I never looked at a figure before buying it and was just like, "Bray Wyatt!! Woohoo!!" But now I have to check them because I've picked them up and thought they looked off and tried to get the best one they had to offer. Most recently, this happened with about six different looking E36 Dean Ambrose figures-- none the hair was painted the same on them, which yes, made a huge difference in how he looked overall for me.

They'll ask how much you spent on the figure and then well here's the email I got. Well hope it helps and good luck. and after all that they email you a shipping label so you can send them the figure back after that I don't know if they mail or email the voucher as I just glued the leg back on and kept the figure as it easier than cashing a voucher in any store here. Hi Gary, I am so glad you contacted us! I would be happy to help you, I just need a little more information from you. Please email us back the product and run codes that should be on the back of your figure or on the bottom of his feet. The product number will be 5 characters beginning with a letter and ending with a number. The run code will be 4 numbers followed by 2-3 letters or a letter and number. If unable to find, please give detailed description of the figure and what he is wearing, as well as any accessories that came with him. Looking forward to hearing back from you. Sincerely, Robin S. Mattel Consumer Services Associate How do you contact them by email?
