When they flew overseas, and wrestled out in the sun, with tanks in the background. The matches were fun, the troops were happy, the shows were really cool.
Now all we see is the same tired matches taped here in the U.S., with some awful country music or garbage jokes by Jeff Dunham. Hey, this year we get to see Howie Mandel! That's gonna be so great. smh
I miss the old Tributes, they were damn good and heartwarming and fun.

Tribute to the Troops is such a waste of production time to me. Literally just a house show on TV.

So your saying Vince started out with a creative, energetic, awesome concept and watered it down year after year until it's now as stale as a ten year old crouton? That doesn't sound like him at all....

I will admit I enjoyed Ambrose vs Wyatt from last year? Or the year before.
But it has gotten considerably bad overtime.

I dislike that Tribute to the Troops are taped in arenas now. I was enjoyed as f*** when I read that Tribute to the Troops was taped before a Smackdown taping. I loved when they went to Iraq and Afghanistan, and even when they went to the military bases in Forth Worth, Texas, it was still pretty good, cause at least they're performing for the troops. When they started taping in arenas, that's when the great feel of Tribute to the Troops was ruined.

I haven't watched Tribute to the Troops since it began to take place in arenas. The original concept is what made it charming.

Well I'm pretty sure they don't do the outside shows in Afghanistan anymore because they were warned of imminent danger or something to that affect. So I get that aspect, at least.

They don't want to spend the money to take a trip over there for a free show.

The WWE never spent a dime on the overseas Tribute to the Troops, it was all under the USO umbrella on a deal that JBL initially brought to the company. I'm sure after the first couple of shows the USO figured it was cheaper to not bring all the WWE equipment over for an hour or two of wrestling. They then moved it to the military bases, and this time Vince started to pick up the bill, which ironically was a tax write off. Now the WWE is being super cheap and just using the Smackdown tapings as the home for Tribute to the Troops.
WWE does still offer military personnel free tickets to any of their US shows. Where they use to include family members that is no longer the case. This mentality as also effect the WWE's deal with Susan G. The first year all proceeds of the merch went to Susan G. and over the years that cut has become less and less.

I loved when they had the event outside. It just gave it a whole different feel than in enclosed arena, that looks everything like a normal 'main event', except with troops and awful country music.

It's just there for tradition now. It is the literal embodiment of a phoned in waste of time.

I just really miss it being outdoors.
I wouldn't even mind if they just did it at aa base in the US like they've been doing the past several years. I felt like that was one of the most awesome aspects of it that set it apart from all the other shows.

Yeah, it used to be one of my favorite shows of the year. I wish it was outside at least.

I never once thought it was anything more than mildly entertaining at best.
