The real question is how did you only buy 1 figure this year? ? Eh, I've noticed a big price increase and haven't really been watching wrestling that much anyways, and I just overall lost interest. There will come a time when mattel and wwe think they can get away with us paying X amount for there toys and when they don't sell and both lose tons of money. I will sit here and laugh and say i told you so...

All figures in any brand or company do not have the same COG they are different based on many Factor's. Generally speaking most large companies that produce a toy over seas in over 10k units would pay less that $2 American dollars. Please kept in mind however there are some many other factors involved in the cost. That number could just be the figure production, not labor, licensing, royalties, insurance, shipping, sell through rate, boxing, shelf space, and others. With all those things being said I can't imaging start to shelf there total COG (Cost of Goods) is past the $4 threshold
Again this is not just Mattel but most company's look for a 250%- 300% mark up to sell to retailers, due to these things involved and to cover manufacturer sales

To produce one figure? A lot. That's why they never produce just one. Economies of scale. They have to sell a certain number (5000? 10000? Someone would have to find Bill's post about it) to break even on a figure. That's what they want you to believe. There's just no way that's true. I'm willing to bet cost per figure is less than 2 or 3 dollars. Again, the cost depends how many they are making. None of us know. All we know is they have to sell a lot of them to break even.

Since I'm barely around this board (I have my reasons) and since most of the time I am here I see people talking about the budget (to deal with accessories and ) I've just always wondered; what is the cost per figure for Mattel? Surely it can't be overly expensive, can it? And I'm sure they make their money back in spades. This isn't a thread meant to complain about the budget or whatever ( I've bought one figure this year), it's just a genuine question.
