Since I'm barely around this board (I have my reasons) and since most of the time I am here I see people talking about the budget (to deal with accessories and ) I've just always wondered; what is the cost per figure for Mattel? Surely it can't be overly expensive, can it? And I'm sure they make their money back in spades. This isn't a thread meant to complain about the budget or whatever ( I've bought one figure this year), it's just a genuine question.

We don't actually know
All we know is that new molds and cloth accessories cost a boat load

I wonder also, bit how do you apply licencing costs per figure?
I do wonder, licensing aside, howmuch does 1 figure cost to make? How to calculate power usage, employee oay....ect.
I would guess less than. 3 dollars, but that is a wild guess.

Assuming that Amazon can sell a new elite Bo Dallas at 7 bucks and not making a loss ... it should be around that pricing?

Just based off of what I see on Shark Tank im going to say it costs Mattel less than 1 dollar to make each figure.

To produce one figure? A lot. That's why they never produce just one. Economies of scale. They have to sell a certain number (5000? 10000? Someone would have to find Bill's post about it) to break even on a figure.

Probably new parts and stuff cost a little more. But I'm sure many stuff like basics (Bryan, punk, itami, cena, etc.) are very cheap because there torsos are common

I have thought about this as well. You would think shipping these figures on those huge cargo ships over an ocean costs a lot.
With 3d printers and making the toys here in the states you would think that would almost cancel out those costs.
I would also imagine they probably have to pay kickbacks to someone who is in charge in china to make sure there product gets to the states safely.

I'm willing to bet cost per figure is less than 2 or 3 dollars.

The real question is how did you only buy 1 figure this year? ? Eh, I've noticed a big price increase and haven't really been watching wrestling that much anyways, and I just overall lost interest.
