not gonna lie, that show was the DRIZZLING craps
like i didnt expect or even want Cena to just come back and destroy everyone, win back the US title and be like "yep"
but in less than a month the WWE has created and destroyed a stable of top heels who could be the main antagonists of the show through at least a year. they have completely forgotten the entire point of a wrestling program.
yes in the end it's always good vs bad and good should win. but the thing that keeps people interested is actually believing for a second or two that the bad guys just might pull it off
Why is Empire Strikes Back viewed as the best Star Wars movie? Because the bad guys win and it leaves you WANTING more
at this point the "League of Nations" has been single handedly taken out by both Roman Reigns & John Cena with little resistance.
and on top of this you have Vince McMahon coming back to TV to pretend to be arrested with this over-the-top straight out of 1980's bad comedy routine about assaulting police officers in another lame attempt to turn Roman Reigns into Stone Cold Roman Reigns
they are literally carbon copying the Austin storylines from the 90's because they are obsessed with the 90's when people loved wrestling, completely forgetting WHY we loved it. The reason it was awesome when McMahon got arrested or Austin or whatever is because we actually LOVED Austin and were fully invested in his character. Reigns is so wishy washy that no one really cares, like I almost forgot he was the Champion....because this storyline is now revolving around McMahon vs Reigns and because Reigns beat up Triple H
The entire thing is rushed and has ZERO purpose. Vince is mad at Roman because he attacked Triple H. So he puts Roman in a WWE title match. Roman wins the title and punches Vince, so now Vince gets arrested and then says he's going to be the referee in another title match next week. How is that even a story? That's like opening a book reading chapter 1, the next page starts chapter 16, and the next page is the 3rd to last of the book.
I bet next week in the match Sheamus grabs a chair, accidentally hits Vince, Cena takes out Rusev/Del Rio, and Reigns uses Vince's hand to count 1-2-3 after SUPERMAN PUNCH!!!! SPEEEEARR!!!!!!!
see: Stone Cold vs Dude Love Over The Edge 1998
This is just about exactly what I've been thinking since the night after TLC. And the saddest part of it is that if they really want to try and create another Stone Cold, uber anti-authority type character... If they really want to basically rehash the Austin vs McMahon feud nowadays, they have the perfect guy on the roster right now. His name is Dean Ambrose and he has more talent in his pinky finger than Roman Reigns could ever hope to (not hating on Reigns here, just that he's so wrong for the role they have him in right now). And he's already mega over. Why they insist on forcing us to ride the Reigns train when Ambrose is basically made for the role already boggles my mind.
But, regardless of who they have as their main babyface, they way they treat the heels in this modern era is ridiculous. The League Of Nations is four supposedly world-class professional wrestler (sorry, sports entertainers or superstars), yet since being formed, they have routinely been basically destroyed by one man, even when attacking en-masse. How is anyone with even the slightest shred of intelligence supposed to believe that anyone's a threat to someone who's single-handedly decimated four superb athletes week after week? Great good guys need great bad guys. There are literally no great bad guys in WWE right now because WWE apparently doesn't think they're important anymore. Well, I shouldn't say that. Kevin Owens has been a pretty great bad guys since he arrived, but he's not the main event and WWE tells us fans time and time again that the main event and John Cena are the only things that really matter.
