I recently purchased the rsc Macho King second hand on eBay UK, but when it came it stunk of smoke, which he didn't list by the way, since I've had him I've managed to get rid of the smell off the figure but not his gold cape, any ideas on how to get it out of the material? I could wash it but I'm afraid of ruining the gold on it?

I had a similar problem once when ordering a fig off of ebay. I placed it inside a bag with baking soda, and left it overnight. The smell was completely gone the next day. Hope this helps, and sorry to hear your Macho King came from a chain smoker=(

Thanks for the reply, I know right I had waited so long to get him I thought I would try rid of the smell instead of sending him back

I believe you can also get rid of it by putting it in your freezer overnight.

Freezer?!?!?! Wtf?!?!
listen to ME it's simple...
Step 1. Get baking soda Step 2. Get a small box/container Step 3. Pour a good amount of baking soda inside the box/container Step 4. Put the addict smelling item in the box/container then cover it and leave it overnight
***If you want you can take a toilet paper roll insert and cut it in half to levitate the item so it won't have direct contact with the baking soda
Then, BOOM smell is gone, trust me I've done this before it works like a charm
One of baking sodas main uses is to eliminate order

I'd put a dryer sheet in a baggy along with the jacket and let it set for a day. Either that of Febreze the hell out of it.

I can not stand Smokers. The thing is, they don't realize that they stink. I bought a desk chair at an open air flea market, took it home, and once home my house stank of cigarette. It was the chair, I had to throw it away. Worse still is when I have to drive someone elses truck at work. I wont realize im driving a smokers truck until it's too late. I'll drive and eventually at some point I'll put my hand close to my face, either to adjust sunglasses or to eat or drink something, or maybe just to scratch my nose or something. That's when the smell will hit me, and I'll smell my hand and it will stink of cigarette. It pisses me off to no end.

I once got a figure off of eBay that reeled. Not even sure what the smell was. Like burnt plastic and dog food or something.
Marino is right. Dryer sheets work wonders. A large zip lock and dryer sheets wrapped around the figure did the job in 72 or so hours.
That had to be the worst smelling figure in have ever gotten.

The real no trainer though is to smoke outside and away from collections. Only an idiot would buy into something as expensive as collecting and then ruin the figures with a habit like that. Another thing that helps is my figures are stored in a very cold room with nothing else in it aside from my video game systems and comics. The closest anything has been to my stuff would be sitting a beer in the cup holder of my chair while I'm playing some video game.
