Right now, WWE figures are frustrating to find at retail.
Whether it is lack of stock, older figures warming shelves, or because most employees are the opposite of helpful, new series of WWE figures show up at staggered. Some states received Elite 39 before some even receive Elite 38. But what if there was a way so releases were uniformed. It would be as simple as driving to the store once with certainty that the figures you want will be there, instead of 6 different trips to 20 different stores and coming up empty every time.
Why not just have release dates for every wave to be in stores by? That way people can go buy the product without having to jump through hoops to get it without having to pay premium.
I'll use the example of The Heenan Family 4-Pack. Random cities around the US have gotten them weeks ago, while others still have weeks or months to go before they hit. My local Targets still have plenty of the horsemen out and won't bring out the Heenans for various dumb reasons (One because they were resetting the toys, and the other because they couldn't pull things for "collectible" reasons). People who want it when its being released either have to get really lucky or pay x3 the price. With a release date, people could just walk into Target on January 4th and everyone could get a pack.
I don't see any pluses to the way things are now.
What do you all think? Random releases, or set dates?

Set Dates so i can know when there in stores instead of begging my parents to drive me there and finding nothing

It must work differently in the uk, it certainly isn't random and works perfectly fine. I have NO trouble finding any figure when it comes out, if I leave it and don't buy it within a week or so then they of course sell out. Otherwise it's fine how it is

Scalpers would love set dates, so that. I enjoy the randomness of the hunt, makes it more fun.

I just wish a store near me would be semi-consistent. I never what I will or will not see. Typically, I find stuff that you guys are finding around a month- 2 months after. Sometimes they get several cases of one particular set and then skip a few and then get a few more of something else.

I prefer how it is now I enjoy seeing the speculation and hunting threads. Most importantly I can imagine the furore and amount of hate threads if Mattel happen to miss a release date.

They do have a somewhat set release date for shipping to retailers. Basics are every month and Elites are every other month, but once it leaves Mattel they sit at retail chain's distribution centers until the store's inventory reaches a certain number to ship them new product.

I have no trouble finding who I want as I have learned store routines, so I'm good.

As long as the series all have the same stock number this is impossible for retailers.

I still can't find Elite 37, so I wouldn't mind planned release dates. Although, this is a line intended for kids, so I can't say I really see it happening.

I recently started a new job dealing with retailers. Like PJ said, there are kind of set release dates. Mattel makes product available as of a certain date. From that point on its up to the sales reps since it all relies on what the retailers order. If the retailers don't order the product or keep it sitting in the back because old stuff is still on the shelves, there is nothing Mattel can do. The only option Mattel has is for the sales team to attempt to find creative ways of getting the retailers to order the product. Also, from a business standpoint Mattel probably doesn't care a ton about the figures selling individually once the retailer has bought and paid for the cases. They only care because it effects the likelihood of future retailer orders. If the retailer pays for the figures and keeps them in the back, Mattel is still making its money.

WWE figures aren't in high of enough demand for the company to spend extra money and resources on coordination for street release dates.
All figure lines are like this unless it's for a big movie once in a while.

I never find anything at retail anymore, so I'd love it if there were release dates.
But yeah...scalpers. ಠ_ಠ

in the uk smyths is fantastic. give an estimated date on the website when an item will be available in each individual store and always have plenty of stock. plus I find there click and collect really easy and helpful. only bummer is we get figures what seems like years after you guys In the states :/

I would love set dates that way we can either go online or to the store but you would have to be there before the store opens bc you would have to beat the scalpers.
