So I was just browsing the closed auctions on eBay because I like to buy a lot of wrestling merchandise and then I came across an auction that has no less than 100 Elite figures, including all of the valuable ones and rares...Item # in case any of you want to look it up is 181991170050 or the auction title is WWE/WWF Mattel Toys Lot Elite Action Figures, since eBay links are blocked. Anyways, can you believe this many figures, I mean just wait till you guys see all what's in it ...SOLD for a MEASLY ABSOLUTE STEAL of only $200 Shipped! I cannot fathom what that seller is thinking...I mean, not knowing secondary market value is understandable in some aspects but clearly this guy paid MUCH more than that to buy these. Someone got an INCREDIBLE deal...I just wish it was me.

He didn't really care what he had. I exchanged some messages with him and he seemed dumbfounded that anyone would've wanted to pay more than $200 shipped for them.
But yeah, what a crazy lot. Basically every grail-caliber Elite other than SES Punk.

Basically every grail-caliber Elite other than SES Punk. That's what doesn't make sense to me...I exchanged messages with him as well. I don't understand how someone could be dumbfounded over the value of this lot. We aren't talking about vintage figures, we are talking about figures that are still being sold today. Now, I'm not sure if he was the original buyer of all of these figures but it certainly does beg the question of how he acquired them then. Why would anyone hand over figures for free if that's how he received them? If that's not the case and he did buy them, we are talking thousands of dollars spend so how can one be shocked that someone would be willing to spend just a fraction of what he did? The more I've been thinking about this the more I believe it's one of those scenarios that screams, too good to be true. Perhaps he needs a loan or something and doesn't even plan to send them out. None of it makes sense to me.

I was thinking scam, too, but the more I talked to him, the more I came to think he's just one of those people who doesn't really understand what some people are willing to spend on these. We have to remember that to most people, these are "just toys" and to make out with a couple hundred bucks for out of the package toys seems like a fine deal for the seller.

He hit the figure jackpot lol Some people might not care the full value for figures, yes that might be hard to believe since money is everything blah blah blah. I'm sure it's a real deal but would be nice to hear from the buyer himself.

If it'll make you feel any better, I got the sense that the buyer was squeezed for more money after the listing ended because so many people bombarded the seller after making offers. Still, quite the score.

It's definitely true. I won't go into details, but the price you all are seeing is about half of what the guy ended up actually paying. Still an incredible score whether the intent is to flip or add to the collection.

Still, quite the score. I sure hope this isn't true. Ebay can be such a minefield. I have lost out as both a seller and a buyer in the past. You can't blame the seller for wanting to renege, but they were the ones who listed the items to begin with.

Why couldn't others just thought, wow lucky bastard

There is, unfortunately, one eBay seller in particular who frequently attempts to buy lots out from under other people.
It's a great feeling to come across a nice score on eBay, but it's become increasingly more difficult and cutthroat, which is kind of sad when you consider that they're just toys, after all.

I've had a few of my own purchases on eBay over the years nearly compromised by this guy. To his credit, he's got some of the better prices among the regular eBay wrestling figure sellers, but that's in part because he never pays too much for his product to begin with.

Ultimately, eBay only cares if the seller backs out of the deal, but really, it'd be great if they could find a way to restrict third parties from swooping in and disrupted a deal where payment has already been made on the agreed price. In the past, I've messaged sellers in case the buyer backs out or doesn't pay, but that's not really the case anymore now that most eBay listings require immediate payment.
