I've been watching wrestling and collecting figures since the LJN line started back in the mid-80's. Having seen most of the great wrestling eras come and go, I've had the fun of collecting each next line of wrestling figures. From LJN all the way through Mattel, I've gotten to enjoy them all.
So for you younger collectors, or those of you who are just getting into watching wrestling and collecting, has any of the Mattel releases made you go back to watch some older wrestling matches? Or maybe you've been collecting for a long time and some of the Mattel Legends and Flashback figures made you go back to watch some of your favorite matches that you haven't seen in a while?
Maybe it's classics like Steamboat vs. Savage at WM3, or The Road Warriors vs. The Midnight Express at Starcade '86 Night of the Skywalkers. Maybe the Mattel release of the Von Erichs had you watching some old WCCW videos on the WWE Network? Or even going as far back as watching old Bruno Sammartino matches when his figure was released.

I watch older matches because the characters and stories are better that's why I mainly buy flashbacks

Dude. It's like you read my mind. It sounds a little weird, but ever since I received my Lita figure, I've been watching a lot of her matches on YT last night, and that pretty much turned into me watching a lot of other matches/segments from the Attitude/RA Era in general. Reminds me of how fun it all used to be. Anyway, it's funny how these kind of things happen, lol.

That's CRAZY that you said this! I have been watching tons of old school wrestling because of the correlation to my Mattel figs! Lately I've been watching the early Rumbles and early Wrestlemanias!
The old product is MILES ahead of today's product!

Cool to see these amazing figures coupled with the Network is leading to people going back through some good times.

It's the other way around for me. I watch the older matches and it makes me really want Mattel to make figures from those matches

I almost instantly watched Bash at the Beach 95 after opening my E38 Macho Man figure.

Bought an Elite 23 Triple H from Ringside just last week because I was watching some attitude era Raws on the Network. So it's the reverse for me, I bought a figure because of some older matches.

Mattel figures got me back into watching wrestling so I hope wwe network adds the raws and smackdowns of the ruthless aggression era since I missed it.

I watched from 98-02 ish. So for me its going back and watching 03-2013. OSW guys did a good job of catching me up on Hogans era. Mattel got me into CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler.
Hows that for a perspective?

The most recent Ricky Steamboat basic (I forget the series) had me going through the Network watching a ton of his matches. Man, he was ahead of his time.

It's the other way around for me. I watch the older matches and it makes me really want Mattel to make figures from those matches This pretty well sums it up on my end. I mean i lived thru everything from just before the big 80s boom up thru now. But sometimes I'll catch something on the network or youtube and it'll remind me we don't have a mattel (or sometimes even a Jakks) of certain guys. I've certainly got a perpetual list of guys i wanna see get Flashback treatment, but every once in a while I'll get reminded of someone i didn't even think about putting on that list. For instance, i never had Butch Reed on my most wanted list.....and i was a damn Doom fan back in the day! Or on the WWF side of things, I'll think "hey....if they made a Big Bully Busick figure, i could do wonders for that guy in a fig fed"......stuff like that....

I only collect Flashbacks and Legends figures because I only care to watch anything from 2002 (pre Cena PG era) and earlier on WWE Network. The current product is boring, the storylines aren't fun at all, and the characters/gimmicks aren't interesting. I do like NXT a lot and have started a NXT figure collection though.

I mainly collect flashbacks due to growing up in the late 80s early 90s.

I love that Mattel flashbacks are giving love back to old school wrestling matches.
