Ryback absolutely should of won the belt in 2012. He was the most over guy on the roster. It was October. 3 months out from The Rock. You have Ryback win at HIAC, and he's still a stsr today. Then you have the triple threat at Survivor Series, and TLC in December. 2 opportunities for Punk to get the title back in time to face Rock, while Ryback doesn't get pinned. A lot of people say they booked themselves into a corner at HIAC, but everything that happened with Punk/Rock at Rumble, and Rock Vs Cena 2. The only thing that would of changed was Ryback wouldn't of been mishandled as much as he was. This is one of the rare instances booking it absolutely killing him. He needs a niche. Not all these random tag matches.I say just have him come out and say from this point forward, I'm no longer the Ryback you know, I'm going completely solo, and I'm tearing through the entire WWE until I get to the top again. Literally have him start from the bottom again beating jobbers, then midcarders, then eventually a main event. He needs to be unstoppable other than cheap heel finishes. He needs to be booked like a full time Lesnar

Ryback should not have been champion in 2012. He was feuding with Punk and you weren't going to waste the Rock on Ryback. Regardless of what people think about Punk, he made sense against the Rock. Also, I don't think the "year reign" had anything to do with it. Punk was used against part-timers like Brock, Rock and Undertaker and would have been in that spot even without the long reign. Back to Ryback, here's what should have happened. He should have won the 2013 Royal Rumble. Dude was still red hot. You could accomplish so much if he wins the Rumble. 1) You avoid the been there, done that stuff with Cena winning another Rumble 2) You solidify a new star in Ryback 3) You avoid the debacle that was Del Rio/Swagger in a WrestleMania World Title match Keep the title on the dominant Big Show and never have him drop it to Del Rio. Cena wins the Elimination Chamber to earn his shot at the trash that was "Twice in a Lifetime". Ryback challenges Big Show for Mania and Shellshocks him to win the title, giving him the belt and a "WrestleMania moment". You can still do Del Rio/Swagger in a mid-card America vs. Mexico match, you can still do Punk/Taker and you can still have the precious Rock/Cena rematch, all while making a new star. It would have taken away Ziggler cashing in the night after Mania, but he could have done that at a later date. It's also worth pointing out that Ziggler was a heel. So had he taken the title from a hot Ryback, he might of actually gotten some boos when he cashed-in MITB. Ziggler had Big E and AJ at that time too to help even the odds. I'm personally not going back in time and changing anything, because I think Ziggler's cash-in was better than anything Ryback is even capable of producing, but your logic is far more sound than WWE's at the time. WrestleMania 29 was one booking blunder after another imo.

I was gonna make one of these threads I dont get how he's not over with the online fans / smart fans. NXT get nothing but praise from their shows even though its usually a regular NXT guy such as Apollo Crews vs Generic Jobber, or someone who always takes a pin like that Marcus guy. People seem to praise their way of getting guys over like that but Ryback was brought in the same way. I seem to remember a lot of people being bummed out when Skip Sheffield got injured early in the Nexus storyline, then people seemed to sour on him upon his return as Ryback? The Goldberg chants I dont understand I dont remember him having them as part of Nexus although it was breif, he comes back as Ryback looking less like Goldberg and gets goldberg chants? no one chants Ahmed Johnson at Apollo Crews, Bobby Lashley, Ezekiel Jackson, Titus O'Neil Bingo! I hate the Goldberg comparisons. For one, he is wayyy bigger (muscles) than him, is a lot better in the ring, and is able to talk and be entertaining without just huffing and snarling. Shame he was in the wrong place at the wrong time during his program with CM Punk/The Rock/Cena. See if they were not so stubborn with their plans (i.e. pushing Cena/Rock II) they could have had Ryback win the title, and face Cena at the main event of WrestleMania 29, and had CM Punk face the Rock one on one. Would have been much much better.
