Source: I worked at Target for two years. I'll just talk about toys since that's what is relevant to the discussion. Food, pharmacy, chemicals are different. For toys, their in-stock team goes through once (for low volume stores) or twice (high volume) a week and scan all the empty or low pegs (1 or 2). If they are in stock in the back, that will trigger them to be brought out to the floor. If they don't have any in the back, it orders them from the distribution center. A high volume store would get toys 2-3 times a week and low volume once a week or so. This goes out the window in December when they get toy trucks nearly every night. So, if you are ever at your target and the elites are all on the HOF pegs and you're waiting for them to get them (or vice versa) then put them back in the right spot and you'll have them in a few days. Thank you for this. It seems like the simplest and most effective thing to try.
