Did anyone else think that The Undertaker/Vince promo was very strange last night? I think having Taker in this makes 0 sense, and Taker's ultra short promo felt very strange. After Taker left, Vince went on to be even more strange I just felt that something was WAY off during that segment. What did you all think of it?

Taker's appearance was a waste IMO. It didn't sell me on anything. It didn't add to anything.
Vince needs one of those writers he employees to write him up a promo next time. That way he stays coherent and can avoid any future F-bombs.

The Undertaker needed to show some sort of displeasure with Vince to insinuate that he's not just Vince's gun for hire. But also, he couldn't say very much because it would expose how little sense this whole angle makes.
It's not about The Undertaker anyway. It's about The McMahons, like the whole show, and most of Wrestlemania. Everyone takes a backseat to the McMahons.

I think most of us were looking for an Undertaker explanation. Like, why is he willing to do this for Vince? Instead, we got, don't blame the monster, blame the man who created the monster. I guess commentary was supposed to be the answer to all of that with the MNW stuff, but it just wasn't very well developed or communicated in that moment.
I do think it was interesting that they brought up the Monday Night Wars. That Vince was the man who won, and Taker was the guy who put them down. Why is WCW relevant to this angle? That certainly points to Sting imo.
But yeah, overall, disappointing. Vince should have just stopped talking when Taker left the ring too.

He didn't say much because there is nothing he could say that would make fighting Shane make any sort of actual sense.

It was underwhelming to say the least, but they've kind of backed themselves into a corner, so there's little Taker can really bring to the table in this angle. He needed to show that he wasn't Vince's slave or made a deal with him and remain a face in the whole process.

all i can see happen now is, taker is whoopin shanes ass bad, vince comes out to try to stop it & call it off, taker doesnt stop, vince calls out the locker room to the ring n they beat down taker n shane wins
OR taker cleans house with the help of kane on the locker room & sting comes out n nails him with the bat & shane covers him

Hopefully he doesn't say much.
As much as I like him and while I'm also confused with what I'm saying, this should be between Vince and Shane with Taker as simply a side attraction. I get Taker should appear vs Wyatt and Lesnar the last couple of Mania, but this feels like a family affair where Taker is just there for Mania only.

"Vince... 10 years ago, your son stole my lunch... and at Wrestlemania, I will steal his soul." That story line makes about much sense as the actual story line does right now.

Storyline wise, Shane owned WCW so it could set up Sting-Taker for Mania 33 but that's probably unlikely

Vince has been very strange on the microphone since returning. Almost like he's losing his mind. For example (although this may not be solely Vince's fault), why the do we as an audience care if Shane doesn't get his inheritance? Why is that Vince's big ammo? Can't he say he'll never appear on RAW again or something else that actually affects us? You'd think Vince McMahon would understand this.

One week removed from the Shane return, and people are starting to see the truth of the situation. That this match literally makes no sense.
(Yet people made fun of me for thinking this made no sense from the start...)

I agree. The entire segment was just weird.

This all makes perfect sense. Shane is blackmailing his father. Vince wants Shane dead. So Vince enlists his longest running creation to take his son out on the biggest stage of all in the most dangerous match.
"Why would Taker agree to it?"
Because he works for Vince. He can't really say nah. Besides, Undertakers gimmick has always been, outside the terrible biker, a soul taking deadman. Actions don't always need a long explanation.

WM 32. Sting with Shane Vs the Undertaker. If Sting wins smackdown ends and WCW returns with Shane in charge. Book it WWE.

One day we can have a thread about Taker that doesn't involve someone bringing up Sting vs Undertaker....

I'm looking forward to the upcoming Shane and Undertaker segment in a few weeks before they have their match. That should be more interesting than what we got last night.
